The wheel bearings on these vehicles are not adjustable. If the bearings become loose or make noise, they must be replaced.
Removal & Installation
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
On 4WD vehicles, remove wheel center cap, if equipped, and the drive axle nut and washer
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove or disconnect the following:
NOTE
Lay the hub and bearing on the wheel studs on the outboard side. This will avoid damaging the bearing seal.

To install:
Install or connect the following:

The Hub Bearing Torque - Front
If Torque Specs are not in the box we recommend youtorque to this setting. Axle Nut: 103 Ft/Lbs.Flange Bolts: 77 Ft/Lbs. Lower the vehicle
On 4WD vehicles, install the drive axle nut and tighten to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm), then install the center cap.
Here are the front axle nut torque specs for the 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD:
• Axle Shaft nut - 177 ft-lb
• hub and bearing assembly to steering knuckle bolts - 133 ft-lb
you can get the torque specs from the dealer. if you replaced the valve cove gasket the just tighten the about the same as you would yor tire by hand not with a power tool!
2WD pickups don't have hubs. They have rotors with bearings. Once you have the brake assembly supported, remove nut from spindle. Be sure not to strip the threads on the spindle. Remove the front set of bearings and pull the rotor off. Remove the rear set of bearings. Be sure to pack greases into new bearings prior to installation. Insert new rear bearing into rotor and replace onto spindle. Insert new front bearing and washer and re-install nut. Tighten to recommended torque specs, grease fittings and replace brake assembly.
