Toyota sienna 2011 model has a sealed transmission that's why you cannot find dipstick. the transmission fluid is rated up 100k miles that you don't need to check the fluid.
The fluid in a sealed transmission in a 2011 Toyota Sienna (or similar) is supposed to last 100,000 miles before service. My recent visit with a couple of Toyota certified techs at a dealership said that they are seeing cars with around 90,000 miles that need the transmission fluid flushed.
You cannot simply drain the fluid from one of these newer sealed transmissions by removing the drain plug on the bottom of the pan. The drain plug connects to a stand pipe in the pan that is used only for filling the transmission to the proper level. The wrong procedure will drastically under or over fill the transmission. The correct way to change the fluid is with some special machine that pumps in new fluid (only Toyota WS ATF!), while sucking out the old fluid. If you are dead set on draining the fluid without preforming the flush that the dealer recommends then I suppose you could simply remove the pan. This will _not_ remove fluid that will remain in the torque converter. The flush really is the way to go, but not everyone will have access to a shop with the proper tools, and after 100k miles you might not want to spend a chunk of money at a dealership with the necessary specialized equipment. (But you should!)
Here's the procedure to check and fill the transmission on a 2011 Sienna as I understand it:
1. Raise the car on a lift, or in some fashion that holds the vehicle wheels securely off the ground, and level. No ramps, jacks, etc. Level, and secure. You are going to be removing a wheel, starting the vehicle, and running through all the gears...
2. Remove the front left wheel. This will expose the transmission filler plug on the side of the transaxle. It might not be marked, but it's pretty obvious to spot.
3. Connect an OBDII scan tool to the car and verify that the engine/transmission temperature is precisely between 108F and 113F. After a 20 minute drive my transmission was 160F and took 4 hours to cool to 108F while on the rack in a shop. If the transmission is already cool, simply letting the vehicle idle in park for 5 minutes will probably heat the transmission fluid sufficiently - but you must measure the temperature of the transmission fluid to be sure! The sensors in the car are the best way, via an OBDII scan tool. I have no idea if non-dealer scanners will display the correct data. Personally I'd have no problem just checking the transmission pan temperature with an IR thermometer, or a thermocouple or two, but I have slept in a Holiday Inn express with an engineer (my wife), and I'm an engineer myself, so I'm doubly qualified to second guess a service manual, your mileage may vary :-p
(the temperature of the transmission fluid is important because it expands significantly when it's hot)
4. Remove the filler plug on the side of the transmission, which was behind the left front wheel that you've removed.
5. Start the vehicle. The engine must be running before the fluid level can be checked!
6. With the _engine_running_ and in park, the filler plug removed, and fresh Toyota WS ATF transmission fluid (and funnel) at the ready - remove the drain plug on the bottom of the transmission. Be ready with a drain pan to catch any fluid that my come out. Remember, this plug is connecting to a stand pipe and will _not_ drain all the fluid out of the pan! If the engine is not running then a couple of quarts of rather expensive fluid will drain out needlessly!
Some fluid will likely drain out, even if the transmission is under-filled. This may only be the volume of the standpipe. Therefore, to be sure the transmission really is full, you'll have to perform the next step...
7. Add some fluid to the filler hole, while the engine is running and the transmission is in park. Keep adding fluid until some (more) starts to drain out of the bottom of the transmission drain plug. Cycle through all the gears, return the transmission to park. The transmission is filled to the correct level when nothing more drains out of the drain plug.
8. Replace the drain plug and filler plug _before_ turning off the engine. Remember, extra fluid is being circulated in the torque converter and will begin to drain into the pan (and out of the drain plug if it is still open) as soon as the engine is turned off!
9. Replace the left front wheel, lower the car, and drive off!
If you look under the hood and you don't see the average check stick and such then it may be a "life time transmission fluid". I know toyota did this with their 2005 4runners. They say it's good for life, but i had a 4runner that needed it's transmission fluid changed and the only way it could be changed was if i took it to a shop and had them hook it up to computers to check the level:/ hope this helps:)
Easier way- Let vehicle sit overnight and keep bottles of new fluid outside at the same temperature
1. open fill plug- always do this first
2. Place a clean drain pan under the transmission
3. open drain plug
4. Remove the stand pipe.
5. Let all fluid drain for a while
6. Replace the stand pipe and drain plug
6. Carefully, precisely measure the dirty fluid in the pan. This is key. Get the measure down to the ounce if you can.
7. Using a funnel and vinyl hose pour precisely the same amount of new fluid into the transmission. As long as the new fluid and old fluid are at the same temperature, you do not have to worry about thermal expansion.
8. Start engine, go through gears, and drive away.
Do this two or three times to get most of the fluid changed. I find a single change makes a big difference.
