Sorry to inform you of the bad news but the white smoke is engine coolant burning off and the rough running condition is also associated with coolant leaking into the combustion chambers. This will be a head gasket repair, basically a head job where you will need to machine the heads down and install new gaskets from the heads up.Get back to me if you have any more questions, thanks and I hope I could help!!!
I'd begin by having the trans fluid changed and making sure there isn't an excessive amount of debris in the pan (there is always some but should not be obviously a lot) You may have a slight varnish buildup inside that becomes less sticky as the internal temp rises.
I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?
this power steering pump has been a problem from the start. I have seen them replaced alot. They run about 50$ new, and are a easy fix. As far as it running ruff, have you ever tuned it up?
Check for codes... pay attention to idle air control, throttle position, manifold absolute pressure and intake temp sensor codes. If not showing codes, these can be tested with a good volt/ohm meter.DO NOT just start guessing and buying stuff!!!
