I have a 98 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 liter here is the problem my car was running one day and then it starting spitting and coughing like when you get cheap gas with water in it then it shut off. It starts back up then shuts off again, so i put some Heet gas line antifreeze & water remover and a bottle of lucas injector cleaner I let it set overnight and it started up the first crank the next morning. It ran good for a little over a week and now its doing it again now it wont start again in if it does start it shuts off. I have almost a full tank of gas at the moment. Someone please me with this problem

right heres a right nice fixya answer ,put half a pint of diesel into the engine oil with a 3 x2 second squirts of fairy liquid ,not the cheap brand X ,then run car a couple of days and you will find the noise stops ,now change the oil and filter then change the oil every 6000 miles with a filter every third oil, change ,use the cheapest detergent oil for a petrol/diesel engine you can buy .
They are pretty reliable. Transmissions sometimes have problems and battery changing, etc isnt easy. I have had 2 concordes and 2 intrepids, as well as a van from chrysler and for the most part they are fine except the transmissions. have had to change the transmission in 2 of the cars and the van (which takes a different one). Engines are good if taken care of. Rick
I have a 98 dodge intrepid with a 2.7. My car would run fine at times and then all of a sudden start to miss badly and the valves would rattle. The mechanic changed the cam shaft sensor and now it runs very well.
