I have a 2002 Chevy Astro van. I can hear the ventilation fan blowing, but no air comes out of the dashboard vents; the floor vents seem to work ok. I do not hear the fan on the high setting. This happens all the time whether the AC is on or not.
The problem is a 1/8 diameter hose that runs from the front of the engine over the top and connects at the rear of engine on the drivers side. It is a vacuum hose #GM15967970 It cost about $6.22 at your GM dealer. Hope this helps Bill. My E-Mail is [email protected]
Thanks to all who posted info about no air through vents, It was the small hose. One end is located under the hood on the left side top of engine. You must take the engine cover off on the inside of van to locate other end of hose on left rear of engine.

My fan is working but air only comes out of defrost and lower area.
I have the same problem of the air not blowing out the front vents just the defrost and side vents. I took the blower out and checked it for power and ran it out side of the housing all is well, I believe that it might be the vacuum line you describe. Is this accessible from the under the hood or do I have to take the dog house off?
2003 Astro Cargo Van with same problem. No air flow direction control. Looked for the 1/8" hose, don't see it from under the hood. Purchased a repair manual, no help on locating hose or removing the rear engine cover. Dashboard is impossible to remove to get to the control panel.
My 2002 Chevy Astro had the same problem the blower running with no air coming out of the front vents.
Located a broken section in the 1/8" vacuum hose that runs in front of the carb. I used a small rubber fitting to fix the hose. now it works great!
Total cost of repair $2.49 for new rubber fitting.
Thanks for the help
