I have a 1998 oldsmobile silhouette. The left turn signal works like a 4-way flasher while the right turn signal blinks dimly at the same time. When I step on the brake it messes it up even more and the blinker speeds up drasticly. I've tried changing bulbs and doesn't help. Is there a simple solution or is this a case for a professional?

I'd check ground circuit for lamps. Ground wire is black. Just to rule it out, you could pull the hazard fuse, then just concentrate on the turn signal.
I've had good luck with redundant grounds. You can use a test light to check ground. One end of test light touches battery voltage, the other end touches ground wire terminal, if the light comes on, at least the ground is good enough to turn on the test light.

SOURCE: drain the antifreeze on a oldsmobile silhouette

Under the bottom of the radiator on the there is a drain ****, you will have to raise the car and crawl under it to see it, be careful to not break it, the screw in plug is fragile, it will be hard to unscrew.

SOURCE: 2000 oldsmobile silhouette electircal problems

you need to remove both rear tail lights and disconnect the plugs, look in the plugs and you will see 6 contacts look at the middle contact on either the top or bottom, the one the is connect to the black wire will probably be melted, you may be able to go to a junk yard and find one that does not have melted contacts and cut the harness about 4 inches before the plug and use splice connectors by matching the wire colors.

1995 Cutlass cierra Left turn signal works right goes on solid no blink

Usually it is a bulb because it takes all 3 or 4 to make the flasher work. Not all bulbs have to work for the emergency flasher.
If all of the bulbs are in fact good, it could be the turn signal switch.
On rare occasions the flasher is the problem

Third brake light stays on; brakelights very dim; radio, clock, flasher emblem on dash blink when turn signals are used; signals flash fast when brake pedal is applied.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere in the brake circuit. May be between the brakes and the blinkers in the brake lights.

Where is the turn signal flasher located on a 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette

Your best chance is in the user manual. It does tell you.
The typical place is up under the drivers side kick panel area just behind the panel in front of the drivers knees, but yours is a normal looking relay that may be mounted in a box of relays, possibly on the passengers side or anywhere under the hood To zero in on that or the 4-way hazard flasher is to be in a VERY quite spot and turn on the 4 way hazards and listen.
Obviously the key needs to be on for the signal indicator to work so you must have someone hold the switch in the door so the key/ignition beeper & overhead light doesn't work.

Turn signal problem

The right one is flashing fast because of a bad bulb either in front or rear. One of them should not be flashing. Good luck
