Cylinder #2 is misfiring (P0302) and the Trib is Misfiring at startup (P0316). Mazda Tributes and Ford Escapes are notorious for cylinders going bad. You can either change each cylinder as it decreases in performance, or suck it up and do them all at once.
this code refers to a miss fire on cylinder 5.it could be spark plug, plug wire, injector, coil driver for that cylinder.start with the easiest,it may fix it.change all plugs if its a plug problem, same with the wires.
This is a fairly easy job. Do each cylinder one by one (removal and install), make sure to reinstall the coil on the same exact cylinder (DO NOT MIX UP). 1. Remove coil retaining scre 2. Pull upward on the coil to remove. 3. Remove spark plug (using a spark plug socket). 4. Properly gap new spark plug (if applicable). 5. Apply sprark plug anti-seize compound on plug threads. 6. Install plug. 7. Aplly coil boot grease on the coils' rubber boot tips. 8. Reinstall coil.
Is it a V6? For a V6 if you are standing in front of the car it will be the middle cylinder on the firewall side of the engine. You will have to
remove the plastic engine cover and the intake manifold to get to it.
If it were on the front side of the engine you would only have to
remove the plastic cover. Since there is a good bit of work involved
removing the manifold, I would suggest that you go ahead and replace
all of the sparkplugs and consider replacing the coil for the one
cylinder also. I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute. Mine started running rough so I decided to replace all the
sparkplugs. After replacing the sparkplugs it continued to run rough. I
took it to a shop and got it scanned (no cost for the scan). The scan
showed the coil on the 3rd cylinder was bad. So I wound up having to
pull the manifold off again to replace the coil :( The first time it took me 1-1/2 hours to do the plugs, second time 1 hour to do the coil. Car runs great after coil replacement. Hope this helps.
check to make sure #5 spark plug wire isn't bad, make sure you have not wired it wrong from changing plugs. You should purchase a chilton manual if you haven't already
you have to dismantlement the top part of the engine to get the back 3 spark plugs. Remove the air intake. I own a Mazda Tribute and I just replaced mine.
