Heater fan not working
Also could be a bad ground wire on the fan had that happen a few times.
Well, check the fuse/relay then you will need to remove the control panel to access the switch then check the switch its self in all positions with a volt meter. if none of those things have found the prob then you prob have a bad blower motor. most likely its a fuse/relay usualy or a switch. when a motor goes it usually will still blow on high. if its out completely it ususaully smells like burnt tape.dont worry its prob something simple and cheap, ie fuse/relay. fan will not turn on. I believe its the switch. How do you remove the console panel?
You could hacve a bad resistor. The part numbe is: 3m5z-18591-ba. The resistror is located behind the glove box. Empty the Glove Box and squeeze the sides of the box and it will drop down. Get a flash light and look to the left of the blower motor (inside the glove box compartment) you will see a blue thing with some wires and a quick disconnect (QD). Squeeze the sides of the QD and pull the wire connection off the resistor. Then use a short Phillips Head Screwdriver and remove the one screw at the bottom of the resistor. Then remove the resistor and replace it. Even if it is not bad and you replace it, you will save time and money doing it later because the rewsistors do fail and can prevent the fan switch from working. db
My comments were to help those with the same problem. I realize tha original posting was back in 2008. So, if you are looking for a solution to your Ford Focus Fan Switch not working, try my suggestion. It worked for me.
