You can visit many repair shops or parts stores to have the vehicle's OBD computer scanned for trouble codes. Most parts stores will provide this service free of charge, so you might want to call around before you visit one.

Check engine could be any of many faults but instead of going to dealer, stop by a local Autozone, Advance, etc auto parts store and have them perform a FREE fault scan. They'll come out to your car, plug in their scanner, read the codes, print you out faults found (in ENGLISH - not code) and advise you, then they'll reset your lights - best part - FREE

2006 VW new Beetle Convertible check engine light, ecp, and asr lights keep coming on. Car sometimes runs rough or stall.

NO! The dealer is just wasting your money. Tell them stop guessing and get things fixed. Go to AutoZone or similar and have them read codes for you. The problem with all the lights probably related.

Service engine soon light is blinking, runs rough, light "ticking" at low RPM. seems to run O.K. at 40 to 60mph.

When the check engine light is on, that means there's a problem that should be checked. When the light is flashing, the system beleives that something serious is wrong and if you continue to drive the car, you could cause serious damage. That being said...

You need to go to the dealer or find an auto parts store that will scan your car for free to get the OBD2 codes. AutoZone does it for free. The code(s) may give you any idea of what is wrong and possible sloutions.

Here is a website with the codes and definitions:

Check Engine light and traction control light stay

there is nothing to do here but have the dealer run a scanner test to see what trouble codes were set with the lights coming on, until then there is no way to tell what the problem might be as there are over 200 possibilities.

Maintenance light comes on when engine starts

Usually that light stays on when you are over due for oil service, but since you state its only staying on for a short period, it might be close for the counter to reach zero miles. What I can suggest is to try and reset the counter for your maintenance light. here is hondas most typical way to resest...." insert key in ignition switch, turn key on to "run" position, do not start the car. with out taking key out return key back to "OFF", now press and hold the odometer trip reset button. while holding button turn the key back ON. Keep holding until you see the light blink/flash or on some models in the odometer window you will see the actual counter reset.

The check engin light went on in my 1994 300ls lexus

get your engine computer scanned and post the code or google it, you will find your problem. Since its a 1994, I am not sure who will scan it, but I would start with the Lexus dealer.

Regarding the corolla abs light, you need to get your local dealer to diagnose the fault, it is possible a wheel sensor giving a faulty reading but while the abs light remains on you have no abs. Worth getting it looked at promptly
