I WOULD CHECK IGNITION FUSE TO SEE IF POWER GOING TO COILS AND IGNITION MODULE. REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR.HAVE IGNITION TIMING CHECK.DISTRIBUTOR CAN SLOWLY WORK A LOOSE JUST A LITTLE TO THROW OFF IGNITION TIMING SO PLUGS WONT GET NO SPARK.

WELL GETTING FIRE AND FUEL.THIS IS A LIST OF THINGS TO CHECK. LOOK FOR A INTAKE VACUUM LEAKS.CHECK THROTTLE BODY INJECTION UNIT GASKET MAKE SURE ITS TIGHT ON INTAKE MANIFOLD. MAKE SURE INTAKE MANIFOLD BOLTS TIGHT. CHECK ALL VACUUM HOSES.CHECK STUCK OPEN PCV VALVE AND EGR VALVE STUCK OPEN.CHECK BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM HOSE MAKE IT HAS NOT BROKE OR CAME OFF. CHECK FOR FAULTY IDLE SPEED CONTROL.I HAVE SEEN TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER STILL LOCK UP STALL THE ENGINE OUT. CHEVY GOOD ABOUT THAT IF ALL IS GOOD CHECK TO SEE IF TIMING CHAIN HAS SLACK IN IT.TURN CRANK SHAFT PULLEY BOLT UNTIL YOU GET TO NUMBER 1 FIRING POSITION. CRANKSHAFT PULLEY MARK ON THE O ON TIMING SCALE ON FRONT TIMING COVER. YOUR DISTRIBUTOR ROTOR SHOULD BE IN THE SPARK PLUG NUMBER ONE POSITION ON THE CAP.IF ROTOR WAY OFF NOT SET TO 1 FIRING POSITION. TIMING CHAIN HAS A LOT OF SLACK THROWING OFF TIMING. SEE IF ROTOR POINTING TO MORE TO FIRING POSITION 8 OR 2 INSTEAD 1 POSITION THE TIMING CHAIN HAS SLIP A NOTCH OR TWO THROWING OFF VALVE TIMING.

Car ran fine until I pulled into driveway. After I turned off ignition it wouldnt start again.

Have the battery tested and clean the battery cables. Just because it reads 12 volts doesn't mean it can supply power under a load.. Autozone and others test batteries for free

My 1989 chevy 2500 4.3 liter v6 wont start. I'm getting fuel and i have spark. I've replaced the coil, spark plugs and wires, ecm, checked the distributer and cap. Everything i have checked seems to be...

it looks like you changed all the ignition parts. so Yes you got fire......................but you don't have gas. or it would start. check for fuel again. somethings wrong. if you had gas, it would start. i dont think your getting fuel

I ave a 994 pontiac, bonnieville. about a week

there is probably a dead spot in the fuel pump, and when it is hot and you shut off the car it will not run.Next time the car does not start, bang on the gas tank with a piece of wood or spray some starter fuel in the throttle body. if it starts,it is a fuel problem.
use a spark tester to see if there is spark as well.ignition modules and coil packs are common on those cars,as well as the EGR valve getting stuck.that will cause the car to idle ok but die out as soon as 2500 rpm is reached.

Its not the alternator or batterey

try the ignition module. Take it off and have it checked out at a parts store such as autozone or advance. I bet it is getting hot and dying on you.

Chevy g20 van wouldnt start/stalling

It sounds like it may be a problem with the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System). Chevy has been having problems with PATS since 1992 til current. Even if your key doesn't have a visible "chip" in it, it is possible that you have the PATS system. The newer PATS systems work by recognizing the exact cut of the key. In some cases extremely worn out keys have been known to stop working correctly with your ignition. In worst case scenarios the ignition cylinder itself, which contains the other chip for PATS, wears out so badly that, one time in ten or more your vehicle doesn't recognize the key and fails to start. The logic is this: If a thief tries to jimmy the ignition, the PATS system shuts down the ignition system for 20 minutes (30 on some vehicles). This is supposed to discourage the thief from trying again, while still letting you start your vehicle. There are procedures for bypassing the PATS system on many vehicles, but it is not for the faint of heart. The wiring work itself isn't bad, but there are catches: 1) you must have the vehicle running while you make the modification in most cases, and not shut it off during the bypass. 2) It's recommended you install a switch in the bypassed wire so you can disable your bypass in case your vehicle needs service. 3) if the vehicle dies during the bypass for some reason, you may have to visit the dealership and get a new ignition cylinder, and a quick reprogram of the PCM or ECU to get it going again. Are you sure its no spark? It could also be a bad fuel pump... have you done a check for spark? If you pull one of the plugs out and lay it on the engine block and turn the car over a few times you don't see spark, or it just doesn't fire when it cranks?

I suggest you perform this test. If you see spark I can almost guarnatee that its a fuel pump issue.

Try this test if the one above passes. Pull off the intake hose (big thick hose attached to the throttle body) and spray in some starting fluid. If it cranks and tries to run but then dies, that suggests that there is no fuel getting to the motor which is usually a bad fuel pump as relays and fuses usually don't burn out on their own. These two tests should narrow it down pretty significantly. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
