Have a 1995 Toyota 4 Runner V6 4 wheel drive. Drove it all day and had no problems. The next morning started it and put it in reverse, mashed the gas, and it would not move. Husband got in and mashed on the gas and it finally moved but barely. He drove it a little up the road but had the petal to the floor until it finally came to a stop and now it will not go at all. He changed the torque converter hoping that was the problem, but it still will not move. Hope it is not the transmission. It starts up fine it just will not move. It is really puzzling my husband, Can you help.

SOURCE: Check engine and VSC lights on

I talked to you on the live chat, and I think that you may have missed the end of my typing...

What I went on to say is that more often than not, on the 02 4Runners, the Check and VSC lights in tandem look mainly after the emission system, and, since you stated no issues during the road test, I would guess that it is a fuel issue (too full/loose gas cap). But, if you can get the vehicle scanned, I will be very glad to provide you with more and better info if you provide me with the DTC codes. That would require your guy or an autozone hookup to a scan tool. I hope my clarification helps; and the graciouness of a FIxYa rating for this question would be greatly appreciated

I would suggest replacing the caliper hoses and following a proper bleeding procedure before replacing the master cylinder

My 1995 Toyota Avalon transmission has went bad, but have not had any previous problems. My power steering has been leaking and i have a loose battery cable. While driving my car one day it act as if it...

i would sadly have to say that it is probably worn out but before you put a new one or a used one in i would at least put a trans gauge on it and check the fluid pressure at the trans or at least pull the pan and see how much metal is in the pan and on the magnets in the pan.........if there is a lot of metal i would replace and flush the system........i hope this was helpful and if i can help in any other way let me know.......let me and fixya know if this was helpful and a thumbs up would be appreciated.........thanks and have a blessed day........

My 2000 4 runner won't shift into park

sounds like a faulty selector cable/rod as park and reverse are next to each otheron selection, it may just require lubricating.

Car won't go in reverse

If the vehcile is V6,then the trans model is the A540E,and if it is the 4 cylinder engine, the trans model is an A140E.Both are 4 speed overdrive transmissions, and sorry to report that on just abot every automatic trans on the road, reverse gear failure is almost always a mechanical problem inside the transmission because there are no shift solenoids involved with reverse as with forward gears. And you did say the forward gears were fine.Good luck.
