How do you remove the back seat in a 2000 Mercury Villager
Fold top seat down first
then there is seat clip push seat forward with upward motion
this releases back floor clamps once released pull seat back this releases the front clamps then pull seat out of back door
One time only. The rearmost bench seat is dismounted with six large machine screws (and one phillips head screw) but the problem is the slides that the seat is attached to. The slides are apparently installed with the rails in one piece and cannot be removed from it without violence. Once the bench seat is removed from the slides, I found the easiest and least distructive way to remove the slides is to pull up the carpet at the back end of the rail and cut off two sheetmetal stops that close off the back end of the rails. Once the channel is open, the slides can be forced off of the back end of the rail using a heavy hammer and a flat bar to get it over the rear doorr seal. The carpet tucks easily back into the molding.
We have a 1997 Mercury Villager. I don't know how different it is from ours. We cannot remove the back seat. We can remove the middle seat and slide the back seat forward. I hope this helps.
