Hello
This problem is caused by a defective fuel gage sending unit, the sending unit is located inside the fuel tank and is part of the fuel pump module but is sold separately in a kit from ACDelco, to replace the fuel gage sending unit requires the fuel tank be removed from the car. Below is a price and part number courtesy of rockauto.com

My Chevy cavalier 99 takes a sec to start I have to hold gas pedal to floor been like this fo at least a year I changed full regulator any suggestions it's a 2.2

if the car is fuel injected, holding the gas pedal to the floor will actually cut off your fuel injectors - which may make it worse. You need to check fuel pressure, you want to make sure the fuel pump isn't bad. Also, check your battery.

Hope this is helpful :-)

Sounds like you have a bad fuel pressure regulator.Take the vacuum hose off the regulator and look for fuel if there is fuel present replace regulator. But if you don't have in vacuum hose hook a fuel gauge up to fuel rail then start the engine look at reading on gauge now pull vacuum hose off and if pressure does'nt rise 5-10 psi replace pump.

2001 chevy silverado 4.8 gas gauge not working properly

Fairly common problem with GM vehicles. The sending unit in your tank has a small circuit board that an arm is attached to which moves up and down according to your fuel level. This circuit board and arm are not making good contact. Unfortunately the only good solution is to replace this part.

My gas gauge is always reading full why 1999 cavalier

Hi

The most likely cause is that the fuel sender in the tank is faulty or that the wiring to the sender is bad.

Less common causes are a faulty fuel guage or circuit in the instrument panel.

Test the sender as it is the most likely cause and easiest to eliminate.

First inspect all connections that are readily visible to insure that they are secure & free from dirt or corrosion.

Disconnect the fuel tank sender wire at the tank. The guage should continue to show full (ignition on). Ground the wire from the sending unit at the fuel tank to any good grounding point on the car. The gauge should go to "Empty". If it does this is a strong indicator that the sending unit is at fault.

Hope this helps. Please do rate my answer. Thanks
