My 1999 Cherokee Limited, 4.0 liter automatic stumbles and/or hesitates at tip in after you first start it when warm. It acts like an engine with a carb that has a bad or improperly adjusted accelerator pump. It only does it once when you start it and then it drives fine until you shut it off and let it set for twenty minutes to an hour. This symptom does not happen when the engine is overnight cold. It has 134,000 miles and has been serviced at the same shop for the last eight years. My mechanic had previously replaced both Oxygen sensors as a result of a check engine light. While looking for the cause of this sympton he replaced the MAP sensor, found a cracked coil, bad plug wires, checked the fuel pressure and decarbed the engine. I have cleaned the throttle body, the IAC pintle and it's port, installed a new TPS and then cleaned the IAC, TPS and MAP sensor connecters with Moller-Stephenson Contact Re-Nu. The check engine light does not come on an there are no fault codes stored in the computer.

Could you explain this a little better , hesitates at tip in after you first start it when warm > hesitates at tip in ???? plus after first you first start it when warm . What's warm ? the engine ? The temperature out side ? Or after you had it running an shut it off an restart the vehicle ? The engine temp. is warm , hot etc.... cooling fans working , vapor lock ?

you need to check the fuel pressure, and did you mean you replaced the distributor or just the rotor because inside the distributor is a pickup plate that some times causes this also 02 sensor can cause this.is your check engine light on if so go to chain auto parts store they usually read your codes for free.

You should have someone sing a dual trace lab scope, look at the Crank Angle Sensor (CKP) and Cam Angle Sensor (CMP) signals to check quality and sync.

Loose timing chains or broken flex plates can change the sync signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and cause a stall situation. Also you should have someone load test the battery and check the cables for corrosion. If the battery drops excessively during startup, the idle motor stepper count can be lost, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will relearn it while driving.

Clean the throttle blades and adjust minimum idle.

With the air cleaner assembly off, hold the throttle wide open and look down the throttle with a flash light. Look at the lower intake plenum gasket for leaks, oil will build up around the edges and in the corners.

Perform distributor sync adjustment. I hope this helps. tried my best.....

1999 Jeep Grand cherokee Limited, 5.9 liter torque setting for head bolts

posted the fsm
5.9L, 1999 WJ?
check alldata.com.... it covers this engine,
buy my WJ, fsm skips the 5.9L, not sure why.
ah only the limited has that. engine.
my online links show no 5.9L. so see why you are asking here.
why not go to real jeep forum and ask.

here are the (what else) questions
are they TTY?
are the reusable.?
are the angle set.?
what is the pattern ? Sequence.
and staging levels .? (about 1./3 steps is ok)
those are always a question. and the FSM answers them all.
for your car.

if the expensive WJ (limited) FSM is too pricey, (it is)
then ask here.
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/

one search, you can too, or better ask them.

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/5-9-limited-top-end-rebuild-1309601/

the intake is TTY bolts.
not head, heads are 2 times, bolts. lol.

im not sure what book covers the 5.9L, it might be a supplement.
ask jeep for best advice, there.

How do i replace/install a heater core for a 1999 limited edition jeep cherokee 4.0 liter 6cyclinder

I would make sure the core is the problem. You may have a heater control valve that cuts off flow to the core by vac. or a blend door that cuts off air flow thru the core.
You will need a shop manual to replace the core. The dash and console have to come out, along with discharging the ac.

Will not start alot of turning over then you here fuel going through then it starts 93 jeep cherokee limited 5.0 v8

Your main ECU is in need of repair. Your jeep is displaying signs of the common delayed start problem. The check engine light does not light up, for a while, then when it finally does, the fuel pump gets power and it starts. Have your ecu repaired.

I have a 99 s 10, 4 cylinder 2.2 liter automatic. Im at times having a problem starting it. when its cold outside it fires right away< but after it warms up or if its hot out it wants to crank for 5...

check for leaking O-rings at the injectors, they will allow the engine or some cylinders to flood causing hard starting. After it sits, check for tailpipe smoke, stumbling until you 'clear' it with more petal, or unusually dark or high oil levels. O-rings are a common problem on older cars as they dry out and crack due to years of heat and high pressures.

a vehicles crank shaft sensor sends a signal to computer, as to tell what revolution the crank is on. you may not get a check engine light. check injectors for leaking in to cylinders, it can cause an excess amount of fuel in cylinder. this may be causeing the no starts and flooding smell. if it starts good warm then check the injectors for leaking. good-luck!! you may also have a bad coolant tempurature sensor. symtoms of a bad cts are--poor cold idle, stalling, slow idle speed, cold hesitation or stumble, poor fuel milage. ( will also ****** timing). its hard to say with out being there, so check out above. good- luck!!

If my memory serves me right your van has a carburator. The stumble is in there. Take it to a reputable shop that specializes in rebuilding carbs and fuel systems. Time has taken its toll on yours but a good cleaning and rebuild should cure your stumble. Hope this helps.

Cavalier blowing out black smoke car idles fairly well considerin

Black smoke is usually unburned fuel. P0171 reads bank 1 system too lean. There isn't one answer. You need to dig further and inspect your cars fuel system, from the pump to the injectors. Because of the mileage you may want to start off with a compression test just to see where you stand with the motor. write back if you have any other questions.
