I have had fuel pump problem with my 2001 saturn 3 times since i purchase it. Is this a common problem with saturns

You have a fuse / relay box under your hood. My 2002 L100 special edition, 4 cylinder, is located near the battery. You have a relay and a fuse in series. A fuel pump operations check, section 4-3 of the Haynes Saturn L-series 2000 to 2004 manual, you can hear a soft whirring sound for 1 to 2 seconds when you turn the ignition to the ON position. I can confirm mine makes this sound when I do this. Good luck with the fix.

Note, I had a crack in my fuel pump, but I took it to an ex-Saturn dealer 4 or 5 years ago because I did not want to mess with it at the time. They had the part and fixed it in 4 hours, but it also cost me $1000 to replace the fuel pump and install a new fuel filter.

Sounds like a spark problem, such as a cam/crank sensor, coil pack etc.

sounds like fuel pump, check the fuel pump's 10amp fuse and check fuel pump relay.

You said, 'fuel injectors are not injecting fuel into fuel rail' but it's my understanding that the fuel rail gasoline is supplied by the pump, and the fuel injectors just pulse to allow fuel to get to the cylinders. I would check out the fuel delivery problem further. Check for pressure in the fuel rail that is within specs.

If not, then the pump or fuel pressure regulator may be the problem. Check the fuse for the fuel pump. If good, then the pump may be bad in the tank.

you never said whether or not you changed fuel filter with each pump,you need to do this because a burnt up pump will load the filter with black partials.Also there is a part called the sock,it is a nylon material that looks like a sock the catches things before they hit the pump,it should have been replaced too.as for why,I think maybe this time someone should be looking in side the tank for rust or any other foreign things that could harm the pump.

You are not getting the fuel pressure it sounds like to me.I would firstly change the fuel filter.If that fails to solve the problem then change the pump.Good luck

The pump has power, but does it have a ground? I've never seen a fuel safety cut off switch on a Saturn before. Usually those switches cut power to the pump and if you verified that it has power then you can rule out the possibility of a switch being tripped. Did you change the whole module or just the pump? How did you verify that the pump is still not working?

Does your "security" light flash? If so that's your Body Control Module.

if you are refering to a inertia switch like on a ford that kills the fuel pump in a crash, the saturn does not have one
