The bongo is over heating. recently the main water pipe under the drivers seat spilt, the one going to the top of the engine. i replaced it, but now bongo over heats. the temp gage goes to high you can hear the water boil in the header tank then all of a sudden it goes back to normal.also whilst it is boiling the interior heater doesn't work, but when it stops the heater works fine. i have put in a new thermostat and flushed the radiator thru still keeps over heating. could it be the head gasket?
please help

No im a mechanic it sounds like that you have an air lock in the cooling system .i am familiar with ford freda and bongo and the design where the engine is is a bit far from the radiator ,so the problem with air locks magnifies.really the solution is just drain the water and refill it slowly while you are pressing and releasing, just repeat the action on the top radiator hose to get rid of any air trapping within the system,it's as simple as that really.you want it to have just water and no air as this will cause a blockage.
My Bongo's been naughty like yours called the dealers and they said they had the same problem with a different persons Bongo.
They found in the end it was the water pump it had a very small hole and was drawing air in causing airlocks and the bongo overheated. If you open the expansion tank and theres more than normal back pressure.Id look into changing the water pump.
Change cylinder gasket, do not forgat to reface cylinder head sure it is bended.
Header bottle boiling up,new head new rad new water pump new gaskets new thermostsat, why did it just boil up again,my man is so peed off after putting new head on and every thing whats wrong.................
almost no one bleeds these vehicles correctly, down load the 'how to bleed PDF' and insist the garage follow the advice
Also the plastic top of the radiater (called the tank) splits and leaks and sometimes bursts like a water melon. The answer is get a new tank in aluminim fitted by a radiater specialist. Then let the specialist bleed the vehicle.
Forgot to add the overhating /bleeding correctly PDF is free on the Bongo Forum
