You can't adjust timing,you have your timing belt on to advance,check marks again on cam timing.

It sounds like the timing belt may be off a tooth. It is very common when replacing timing belt to not have all the slack on the same side as the tensioner.It is always recomended after setting tensioner to rotate the engine by hand two revolutions and recheck timing marks.
