I have a mazda rx8, the steering is stiff when cold but gets better as the car warms up?

thanks, the local garage says that the electric power steering unit has got water in it and its corroded, but they are not a Mazda garage, i've lost faith in Mazda garages, but to fix the problem and get to this unit, is a huge job

On top of the struts under the bonnet is a plastic cover with a nut underneath ,put some engine oil around this nut so it soaks through to the bearinig ,might or might not work dependiing on the fault but its a favourite trick of mine that often works

Check to be sure that you have proper front end alignment. A tell tale sign would be uneven front tire wear and pulling to one side while driving. If the wheels are not aligned properly, you can also encounter hard and stiff steering, especially while making turns.

05 rx8 steering is stiff

You do not have the proper test equipment, repair manuals and training required to test the electric steering, any suggestion would require you buy a complete steering gear, a very expensive part that may or may not fix the problem, your money would be better spent at the dealer.

My 2004 RX8 won't start when the engine is warm, when its cold it starts no problem. If I drive the car till it at operating temp and shut it down I have to wait an hour until start it again

if this car is on the cold start injector when it is defective. Injects additional fuel to the engine is still warm. Is it to feel warm by running more than normal gasoline smell?

Are there better coil packs for the mazda rx8 that are upgraded or high performance which would be better for my car.?

The revised Mazda coils are better and appearantly last longer. Part number N3H1-18-100B-9U. These are OEM on the later RX8's but will fit all models.

Cheapest for a set that of 4 that i can find is JP4mance.co.uk - RX8 ignition coils

Hope this helps?

Stearing gone stiff

It's understood that the 2004 RX-8 came standard with Electric power steering.
There's a computer module for the electric steering assist too, which sounds like it has it's own diagnostic port.
On your own, I'd suggest looking for blown fuses.. beyond that it appears that any diagnosing and fixing is up to your local/preferred stealership.

Hi there, just need some advice on my mazda rx8

Don't tun it on then off before it gets warm it will flood your engine, if it is left outside in cold temps it seems to drain the batter (just had that happen) and keep oil in it!
