You can find switch on right side of the transmission, opposite where the linkage goes in on the drivers side The harness connector is near the dipstic fill tube top. They are usually stuck on the shaft so you will need lots of wd40 a little gentle prying and some patience to remove it. You can replace with one from a scrapyard or get a new one (about $200 new) You can take them apart and clean contacts, but be very careful not to loose or mix up internal contacts (they will fall out if you are not careful) When re-installing I usually adjust start positon in neutral ,partially lock switch down and re - check reverse & park positions, then fully tighten. It's plastic so don't "animal" on it tightening...use lock tab to keep from backing off.

I suggest the public library. I have found it to be a great resource. Haynes published a manual for 1993 to 1998 "all models" # 50025 or search at the library for ISBN # 1 56392 315 7
SOURCE: power windows won t work
I alsao own a 95 grand cherokee.
Certain windows would stop working when the drivers side door closed. I removed the rubber boot in between the door hinges that shields the wiring harness and found several wires in a condition of broken and/or shorting.
I will say these shorts also caused the battery to drain on several occasions when the car sat overnight.
It is easier to re-attach and work with these wires if you remove the harness plug from the door. There is an allen screw located in the middle of the plug...sorry I dont remember the size....
Hope this helps
