The horn, cruse control and air bag each get power from the clock spring and each have a wire plugged no to it. The horn wire is probably not connected. When the clock spring breaks the horn and cruse control stop working and the air bag light stays on.
check the fuses,, the air bag light will come on if the battery has been disconnected for a long time, so if this is the case, check the fuse for the horn, the system may reset itself, if not,, unhook the battery wait 5 minutes, and hook it back up , it should clear
The horn itself may be bad as hooking a jumper wire from the battery should get it to honk if *** does the horn button in the SRS may not be making. Is the check engine light on when driving or the SRS yellow light on? ( air bag )? If the horn doesnt work and the airbag light is on you can have a clockspring problem These are under the sreering wheel and allow the turning parts to trun and still be connected to the car but turn too far they'll break and the air bag and the horn both won't work. This is a pro area of the car to be working on as the air bag system mishandled can hurt the repairman very baddly as your not in normal driving position while working on it. Just cause the warning light is on doesnt mean the bag won't go off ! ! The relays seldom fail and new parts store ones are fine too
If the computer in the air bag diagnostic monitor detects an open in the air bag indicator circuit and if another system fault exists, then the air bag diagnostic monitor will turn on its internal tone generator (beeper). The beep pattern is five sets of five beeps. The pattern is repeated every 30 minutes while the ignition switch is in the ON position. The five beeps do not indicate a code five or any other code. The air bag indicator circuitry must be repaired before the diagnostic trouble code can be read.
I think he may have just bent the connection that activates the horn. Does it honk when you turn the wheel one way or the other? Try that and let me know what the out come is.
