Shop around, look at labor prices( don't tell them are buying the part). Then buy your own part and have one replace the part. Fords.. When you have to replace the drives side CV axle. The left side has to come apart. The only way the drivers side axle comes out , is pushed out from the passenger side. Threw the transmission.
The fourth mount is attached to the automatic transaxel transmission case . It bolts to the top of the case by 3 bolts.. it is on the top surface of the transmission case adjacent to the area that the passenger side CV axel plugs in the transmission case. If you remove the air filter box and connector tubes you can look down towards the bottom back of the transmission and see it clearly.
There's another fuse location (on my 99 SL1 anyway) under the right front panel of the center console in the passenger compartment. Check fuses with a test light (cheap and easy to use).
You are better off replacing the transmission than replacing the front pump, unless you know transmission overhaul proceedures, if not your going to waste your money, if you can't afford new go used.
easy, just take the outer tie rod end nut off,cv axle nut and strut bolts, swing it out, some you might have allen head bolts at the tramnsmission also, very easy job.
The SL2 is a DOHC 1.9L and the SL1 is a SOHC 1.9L. They have different transmissions, the DOHC uses a 15 inch wheel while the SOHC has a 14 inch wheel. So when you are shopping around for another transmission you must get one from the same type of engine. Saturn auto transmissions seem to be problematic, I stuck with the manual trannys and had very good luck.
Time to find a much lower mileage used tranny and have it put in. Replace the clutch components with new stuff while you are at it.Note that the transmissions 91-99 will most likely swap but you must know whether you have an SL1 or SL2 and the donor car must be the same..
The filter is way up on right (passenger side) and the back side of the engine. I found it easier to access by removing the rt front wheel and splash barrier plastic panel directly behind where the axel comes through.
