More then likely it is the sending unit or gauge as conventional oils leave deposits that sludge up the inside of your engine block , especially when the oil is not changed in a timely manor. These deposits can clog up various internal passages , like your oil pressure sending unit. Oil pressure sending units are usually inexpensive and easy to replace. Hope this helped Tim

What causes oil pressure to drop to zero but goes with accelleration

If your oil is full, it's most likely electrical. If it's not electrical, then it's most likely something like a crack in the pickup tube, sucking air if I had to guess.

Oil pressure is fine then bounces upand down then goes to zero then back to normal then up and down then back to zero where it will stay

Check the oil pressure sending unit it sounds like your getting false readings . But check the engine oil level and smell it if it smells burnt you need to start looking for other causes of this problem

Oil pressure guage stays at 40 psi on ign/engine shut down, but drops to 0 psi when ign is turned back on, and then on starting of engine operates normally... What's up ???

the oil pressure gauge only gets a reading when the engine is runningas the oil is being curculated. when you shut the vehicle off it should go back to zero and be there until the vehicle cranks back up. i hope this helps

The oil presure gage goes up and down from zero to

All you have to do is replace your oil pressure sending unit. It`s in the rear of the motor by the left head. This is the drivers side. You need a special socket to remove the sending unit.Good luck.

Low oil pressure

You need to get a gauge hooked up to see what the actual pressure is. (a garage can do this if you can't get ahold of one.) This will tell you exactly what the oil pump is, or isn't doing. The gauge threads in where the sending unit goes.

2002 2.5l no oil pressure on gauge. Runs fine...no

You better put a manual gauge on your engine and make sure you have oil pressure. Could just be a faulty gauge or sending unit but I sure as heck would be checking it with a manual gauge.

Drop in oil pressure

The oil sending unit could be bad, or the pressure relief valve in the oil pump is malfunctioning.
