I have a 2004 Isuzu Axiom, my check engine light came on as i was on the interstate with my cruise control on. The cruise control stop working exactly the same time the engine light came on. I took it to Autozone and the code said a Map sensor, i believe the code was P0106-Definition Manifold absolute Pressure (Map) sensor performance. Car is running fine by engine light is on and my cruise control does not work now. Any suggestions

You P Code is missing a number, they are P1234, always P and 4 numbers.

with new gen cars/trucks they show fault code in the form of a eng light on ! If the eng light is on there is a fault on diagnostics = eng management,air flow meter,feul pressure sensor,injectors etc.the trick is to find it ? workshops use a Diagnostic tool (Gen2) for Isuzu,mabe u could ask a alternative tool (launch master)also a diagnostic tool /most aftermarket workshops should be able to diagnose the problem. (this is also the reason your cruise control will not work because of the Eng Light.

if you speedometer is not working this is why you check engine light is on computer need this info to send proper amount of fuel to engine

check your fueses first, is the check engine light on, if it is it might give u a code?

Your engine is probably equipped with an 'Idle Air Control' that has failed.

Change throttle body. Fixed mine.
You should be able to get one for around $40
The little clamps on the hoses you will encounter must be bent and replaced with clamps that tighten with a flathead screwdriver.

Ckt is your Torque Converter. it could be something small as a seal. that code alone doesnt do any good, without visually inspecting the Torque converter. in anycase, its not a job i recommend doing at home. one thing can lead to another which leads to disaster. Take it into your local shop.

If your are reaching 4500 rpm, your'e working it pretty hard.
Have you checked the PCV system(including the air filter)?
Many engines in recent production are using very low viscosity oil and have lower standards for oil control.
Some manufacturers are responding that there are no set specifications for oil consupmtion.
You might try changing the oil and using the highest viscosity your owners manual permits.
Keep check frequently, add oil as needed, it's cheaper than rebuilding.
