I have a "new" Saturn. It's a 1999 SC2, same 1.9 Liter engine as the others. Problem is that it start fine when cold. After driving for 10 minutes or so, I turn the engine off at the store. Walk out after 2-3 minutes and turn key. NO START. the starter doesn't turn over. Doesn't even click the solenoid. I wait another 5-10 minutes and it starts right up. No problem. I changed the temperature sensor on the block with a new one. No help. Any ideas? Car runs great, other than this "Hot Start" problem. By the way. NO check engine light. NO battery low or charge light. Once it sits for a few minutes, turning the ignition off, then on - it starts like normal. Go figure. kim My saturn will not start when it is hot either. I can turn the key and it will click but nothing else. I can let it set for an hour or so and then it will start fine. I took the starter off and had both it and the sylionid tested and found nothing. I can push start it and it will fire right up. I do how ever hear a series of clicks kind of up under the dash when this is happing. I thought once it was the security system, but I cant seem to tell. It finally got to where it wont start at all unless I push statr it, hot or cold. I cant even jump it seems kind of electrical to me.
My 1997 SC1 would start fully charged after about 5 minutes of cooling off (same as my Busa). If the vehicle draws lots of bettery energy when the ignition switch is turned (the headlights dim as if the battery was week) and all you her is a "tlock" then more than likely the starter solenoid is sticking when the engine gets hot. Age, as well as wear and tear in the vehicle, would cause for the stater, and the starter solenoid, to weaken. When the engine is cool it will start as if the starter was new, but after driving the car for about 10 minutes the problem starts. The engine running hotter than normal (ie.cooling system problems, diferent muffler system, low oil level), no necesary due to overheating, will add to the problem. My solution was a new stater ($115) and a starter heat wrap ($20), and I never had that problem again :-)
It sounds as if the crank position sensor is bad. When the engine heats up,it cases the sensor not to work. After the sensor cools it will work again.

I have this exact same problem. We replaced the started and this did not fix the problem. We also had the security system reset and this is still an issue.
