Check the caliper drum, it sure is STUCK from dirts and dust! Might be already rusted and can't retract anymore! Taah!
Testimonial: "New servo; problem solved."
And it happened at the same time on both wheels?... I cannot believe on that. Yesterday I run 20km at 150km/h and I started to smell burned. I was not sure if it was of my car (I couldnt stop in the highway) but when I was arriving I had to make more pressure on the pedal to brake. When I arrived both wheels were smoking! Could be a bad hose instead making difficult the oil circulation and preventing the pads to retract?
Not only the caliper drum stuck on that model, it has problems w/ the caliper pin guide that usually be greased up!
The Freelander got this EBFD(Electronic Brake Force Distribution) that balances brakes, only the dealer knows how to test it! At the age of ur vehicle, it might be malfunctioning.
You have to check the ABS BRAKE MODULATOR in ur nearest dealer!
Freelander really eats a LOT of FRONT BRAKE PADS!
Thanks a lot, bayyagg. Your knowledge is very useful.
When I mentioned the mechanic on my first post, he is the dealer really. I don't remember exactly the name of the part, only the words "servo" or "pump" come to my mind; anyway is the part that makes pressure to the circuit. I drove yesterday all day I couldn't assign any problem, except I have to press the pedal almost to the bottom if I want to brake very strongly.
Understanding how this thing works and knowing the problems normally associated with this model in particular is very important to me, as a everyday user (and payer). Once again, thanks.
