Do you know how to carefully feel heater hoses to see if coolant getting to heater core is hot enough? Has thermostat been changed lately, and coolant system flushed?

I just fixed this heater not blowing hot problem on 1999 Dakota. My fan clutch was seized, therefore the fan never free-wheeled, always on hard cool, motor never got hot, block coolant never got hot. New fan clutch, problem solved.

SOURCE: 1995 Dodge Dakota Calipers

check your fluids and bleed the brake system , if that is all the issues your having . if low on fluid and keeps draining out then you have whats known as a caliper seal broken and that means $30-50 bucks for a new one/rebuilt , i know i drove mine like that for a bit and had to replace the driver side.

SOURCE: 1996 Dodge Dakota heater doesn't get very hot only gets warm

it could be the heater controls itself i had a 95 ford f150 that did the same thing i replaced everything i could as i live in upstate ny and in the winter it gets pretty cold so replaced all i could ,heater coil, radiator, thermostat, coolant and nothing a local mechanic told me to check the control in the dash to see if it was going all the way to the hot position. i took the dash apart to get to it and checked it and the cable that mmoves the valve on the heater coil was stretched so it wasnt going all the way to hot. not that its the same thing but its a place to start

Dodge dakota heater

Make sure the heater hose is hot with the engine is warm. The heater hose goes into the firewall and into a heat exchanger/ blower fan that will give you defrost and car heat. If the heater hose doesn't get hot you may have a blockage in the hose or at the radiator outlet.

My heator gets warm but not hot, inlet line to heator is hot but not outlet, only warms wherm

I would check the thermostat first. If that is not it you probably have a heater core issue. Check your antifreeze as well.

I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota when I turn the heat on all I get is cold air. The heater core is getting hot.

Check the blend door inside the air duct make sure it is not getting obstructed also might want to make sure the cable to it is secure and operating properly if its electronic controlled make sure you have voltage to it.

I have a 1995 dodge dakota and i live in iowa u know the cold state, well my prob is i start it and let it run for about 20min before i head off to work and it still wont heat up as much ,when i put it on...

HI hope I can Help
First make sure that your antifreeze is topped off.
Next check what the engine temperature is
Is it at normal running temperature
Next check the two hoses
Feel the hoses going into and out of the heater core. They should both be hot. There may be a 20 or 30 degree difference in temperature, but both should feel very hot to the touch. If one is really hot and the other just feels warm, the heater core is probably clogged. If you have access to an infrared thermometer, taking the temperature of the hoses is the best way to check this.
If it Is clogged you can remove both these hoses and flush the heater core with a garden hose to, to remove any blockage.
If this helps please leave feed back Hope it works out for you FixYa.

Heater does not put out hot heat just slightly warm after a while

If thermostat has been changed and still not hot enough, I'd take a look at this link for my tip regarding poor heat. Remember to bleed system good and make sure you have heater on when re-filling/bleeding the system. Quite often at idle, it's poor, and when RPM's are increased the heater feels hotter in this case.

Water in floorboard after every rain. 95 Dakota

the windshield could be leaking behind the dash,a good way to check is put the fan of the heater on,hot or cold and get a solution of soapy water and apply to the outer edges of the windshield and look for bubbles.

My 99 dodge dakota wont heat new thermostat motor

You have a bad heater valve, operated by vaccuum or cable its on the hot water line on its way to the heater core.
