"Trip A" is a way of measuring the mileage you take on a short trip. If you push the button you should find that you have three settings (Mileage, "Trip A", and "Trip B") A short push of the button changes the setting. Holding the button down erases the setting. Holding the button does not erase the mileage setting, only the "Trip A" or "Trip B" setting. The first setting is the mileage of the vehicle . The second setting is "Trip A" will allow you to measure the distance of a short or long trip. You probably also have a "Trip B" which also allows you to keep track of the mileage for a second trip at the same time(a trip with in a trip). I reset "Trip B" after each oil change so I know how long it has been since the last oil change . I reset "Trip A" whenever I fill the gas tank so I can figure my fuel economy (Miles Per Gallon.MPG). Just divide the miles traveled by the number of gallons used. 350 miles divided by 10 gallons = 35 miles per gallon.
You will find that "Trip A" and "Trip B" can be very useful tools for taking care of your Toyota.
