It was the security Passlock system on my car as well. I did't notice that the security light had come on the first time. Look up Passlock in the owners manual.
This fixed my problem on my own after I paid to have it fixed and it happened again the next day.
My 2004 pontiac grand am did the same thing, but it was not the passlock. My security light did not flash. My alternator, starter, and battery were all good. There is a starter relay under the hood that went bad. I replaced the relay and car started right up. ($17.00 fix). You can check the starter relay by switching it with the cooling fan #1 relay. (Starter relay is relay #11, cooling fan relay is #12, they are the exact same relay). My car is 2004 pontiac grand am se, v-6, so I'm not sure if this helps you or not.. but it's atleast somewhere to start...
Starter solenoid time for a new starter
I found out the issue. It was the sercurity system. I bought a new starter and ect... for nothing. lol. Thanks to a comment on this sight I figured out the issue. Thanks

Has something to do with the security system-wont start, battery ok???
Same thing has happened to me. I replaced the starter and it still doesnt start. My husband say it is may be the ignition switch. I am totally confused.
The car suddenly wouldn't start. Tried jumping then replacing battery. Accessories work and radio will come on but, engine will not turn over. Tapped starter with a hammer...the car started to crank but again would not start. In accessory mode after most lights go out the oil, battery, and service engine soon light stay on. Help!!
my car does not start and the lights all work it just wont turn over
My daughters car security system does the same thing. At first we were pretty panicked about it, changing the battery, etc., but now that we know what it is she just resets the security system and moves on. The car goes along for 1-2 months and then she has to do it again. She has a 2004 Grand Am. Would it be worth checking to see about replacing the security system?
My car will do the same thing (not starting, lights are on, etc).. my security light however, does not come on or flash, would resetting the passlock fix this?
My 2004 Grand Am won't turn over. I turn the key and it starts to crank but will not completely turn over then it will die. The only way to get it to turn over is to press on the gas? Any ideas?
Per the 'remedy' below - it does work. It has happened to my 2004 Grand AM , many, many times. I have linked it to unlocking and locking it w/the remote keypad device. The problem I have now, is that the 'security' light on the dashboard won't turn off. I've also noticed that when my lights are on (or theradio) there is a clicking, rice krispies snapping sound around the drivers side of the dashboard. Any help out there?

You can reset it yourself for free by turning the key to accessory position
Leave for ten minutes on accessory mode.
Turn car off completely
Try to restart
