It is apparent that the wire between the current sensor that the computer monitors and the left brake light socket is open. Thus the computer knows the brake light is not working because it is not drawing current. If you have a wiring diagram, you can probably find the broken wire or bad connection. This may take some time. To get the left brake light working, you can jumper the left brake light socket to the right brake light socket. Warning, this may cause the computer to register the extra current on the right side as a short circuit and shut both off. If that happens you will have to forgo the left brake light until you get the open circuit corrected.
Pastor Norman, Pastor Dave here. Since you already replaced the left rear brake light bulb and that didn't help, please take that bulb socket out again as you did before, and find a way to test the bulb contact for electricity when the brake lights are on. You should get 12 volts out of the "hot" metal contact. If the other two lights are on, and you have no current in the socket, you either have a bad socket, or a broken wire somewhere. One way is to go back a few inches and skin off the insulation of the brake light wire and see if there is current back a few inches from the socket. Cover with tape when you finish. If you decide to cobble a solution, you could run a good wire from the other brake light that works and splice it in to the dead wire. Be Blessed.
It's most likely a blown bulb. It should be fairly straight forward to change. I believe in your car there are some thumb screws located in the trunk to remove the tail light then simply twist of the bulb holder pull out the bulb and replace with a new one. A nearby auto parts store can help you with getting the right bulb and assist in installing it.
check to make sure that you have the correct bulb in the correct socket in both left and right tail lights. dual filament bulbs have to contacts on the base of the bottom of the bulb. make sure the socket that you are inserting them into also has two contacts. if that doesn't work then you need to get a test light so you can find out if power is going to the bulb housing and all ground. check all fuses also with amp meter
Hello. The symptoms you are describing are likely due to a poor ground. Temporarily install a new ground wire by securing a piece of copper wire to the frame with a self tapping screw. Use this ground wire along with the hot wire to see if each of these lights works. If it does, trace the ground wire back to the frame, unscrew it and clean up the metal with emery cloth so you reestablish a good ground.
If you have a beebing noise every time you press on the brake, it is because a tail light is burnt out. There are two filaments in each brake light. Therefore, when you turn on your hazards, it will appear that both tail lights work properly. The beebing warning sound is actually a feature that Dodge put in the Rams so drivers would know their tale light is out. Just replace the tail light bulb, and the beebing will automatically cease. To get the tail light housing out, you will need a torex screw driver. Also, you twist the bulb housing out as opposed to pulling it out. There are three prongs that twist out.
on either side of the boot interior, there are what look like air vents. these clip out from the top (with a flat screwdriver) you then unbolt the light unit, pull it out. the bulb holder then unclips easily.
