The cam shaft position sensor is located right behind the exhaust cam by the fire wall. It is held by two 10 mm bolts, one on each side of the sensor. If you got the hood up and looking at the engine the cam that is on the right hand is the exhaust cam. To get to the CPS you have to remove the intake and cam top cover.

2007 kia spectra code p0016 after engine warms up and cut off then started back up . wont come on cold start up .

cut off = engine stalls p0016(vvt failures) did you look this up first? in a real kia book?
spectra not spectra5
no engine size told. hummmm, 2.0L Automatic?
autozoned parts are junk, china cloned parts are.
so guessing and adding bad parts gets you where? double bad now.

BOOK words to follow

Trouble Code: P0016 (2.0L L4 VIN - Auto)
Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor A)and read this.
The CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) system is installed to the chain sprocket of the intake camshaft. This system controls the intake camshaft to provide the optimal valve timing. The PCM controls the Oil Control Valve(OCV), based on the signals output from mass air flow, throttle position and engine coolant temperature. The CVVT controller regulates the intake camshaft angle using oil pressure through the OCV. PCM monitors timing misalignment while no active faults are present and fully warmed up engine oil at idle. If the timing is misaligned PCM determines that a fault exists and a DTC is stored. Possible Causes:
  • * Oil level, pressure and condition
  • * OCV
  • * CVVT
  • * Timing mark alignment
note their words, 4 thing wrong, here, VVT is bad.

cam shaft sensor error is
Trouble Code: P0340 (2.0L L4 VIN - Auto)
Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction and you never got that code,

I have a 2005 saturn relay with engine light staying on. Auto zone says it is a p0340 camshaft position sensor a circuit (bank 1 or single sensor). Where is the sensor located and is it an easy fix.

DTC P0340 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit . has single sensor . This is circuit problem , testing the electrical circuit's for the sensor before replacing the sensor should be done . Do you know how to test sensor circuit's ?

I own a 1998 Chevy Lumina, took it to Advance Auto. I know what one code is what does code P0341 mean and how can it be fixed?

Hi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

P0341 is a code for Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit. The first thing you need to do sense its a circuit code, is to change the Camshaft Position Sensor. I don't know what engine you have, but if its the 3.4 engine the sensor will be directly under the Power Steering Pump. Remove the pump and replace the sensor, clear the codes and hopefully the sensor does the fix. If not it could be in the wiring or engine controller. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website and give me a thumbs up. http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

2.0L 2.4L it is on The BACK OF the Cylinder Head REMOVAL
The camshaft position sensor is mounted to the rear of the cylinder head.

  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the PCV hose and reposition.
    1. Disconnect electrical connectors from the camshaft position sensor.
    2. Remove camshaft position sensor mounting screws. Remove sensor.
      1. Loosen screw attaching target magnet to rear of camshaft and remove magnet.
      INSTALLATION
The target magnet has locating dowels that fit into machined locating holes in the end of the camshaft.

      1. Install target magnet in end of camshaft. Tighten mounting screw to 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) torque. Over torqueing could cause cracks in magnet. If magnet cracks replace it.
      2. Install camshaft position sensor. Tighten sensor mounting screws to 12.9 Nm (115 in. lbs.) torque.
      3. Carefully attach electrical connector to camshaft position sensor. Installation at an angle may damage the sensor pins.
