The pulley behind the fan clutch has stopped turning causing the belt to tear twice already. My mechanic told me to remove it but in order to do that I need to remove the fan (which I already did) and the fan clutch... I see no bolts or screws on it so I dont know how to remove it.

Leave the fan belt in place and it will hold the pulley and fan in so you are able to remove the large nut that is behind the fan

SOURCE: water leak 2003 dodge 2500 diesel

What you are seeing is the water pump (often mistaken as an idler pulley). It is a very simple change. Remove the belt, loosen the two bolts on the water pump ("diamond shape with pulley on front"), pull the water pump out, and reverse steps. You may want to drain your coolant into a very clean or new bucket first or you will loose good coolant when you pull out the pump. Once water pump is in place, replace belt and your good to go. Tools needed : Belt removal tool or 3/8 inch drive/ratchet with extra long hangle or cheater bar, and i believe a 10 or 13 mm socket for the pump. NAPA carrys a lifetime warranty pump...i suggest it.

Ok,so my car already tore 4 serpentine belts in 2 months,,,they changed the belt tensioner already and the idle pulley, and still not working what could be the problem?

check to see that all bolts along the line of the belt are tightened, the biggest cause of torn belts are bolts that have worked their way loose and as the vehicle vibrates, they slide outward and rub on the belt, when the belt is removed, check each pulley for free play, they should all turn with ease, with the car running, have someone turn on the ac, make sure that the clutch engages and that its not binding, or causing the belt to bounce or skip when its on. check to see that the alignment of the belt fits PERFECTLY in line ,, if one pulley is off just a fraction of an inch it will begin to tear the belt, and at 3300 RPM's, that doesn't take long to rip to pieces.

Ok well 1 thing my car is making a loud howling noise I and also idles I was told it was to be the idle air control wonderin how true that is and 2 I have replaced the belt twice witin a month how is it...

The large pulley on the crankshaft (crank damper pulley) is
most likely worn & out of alignment, that is causing the belt
to rub on other pulleys & wear out

The howling & the idle, are most likely two separate issues

The AIC (air idle control valve) could need cleaning or replacement

The fan clutch or belt to it, is making a screeching noise and then stops after a few minutes. We've tried everything to get it to stop. What lshould we do?

The bearings in the fan clutch, or idler pulley may be going out, which would create extra resistance. This would cause the belt to squeal until everything is moving like it should. Try to lube the bearings, and put some belt stop squeal spray on the belt ridges. If this doesn't help, take the belt off and find which pulley is causing the extra resistance.

Remove clutch fan dodge dakpta 4.7

This one does require a tool to loosen the fan clutch from the water pump shaft. Part of the tool holds the pulley and the other part is spanner wrench used to loosen the clutch. An important note on these fan clutches: Once you have the fan clutch off DO NOT let it lay with the rear side of the fan pointing downward as the silicone fluid that provides the "clutch" action can drain into the bearing and cause the clutch not to work. Once you have the clutch off just lean the fan and clutch against something so it is standing upright just as it is when it's bolted to the water pump until you are ready to put it back on. Hope this helps you out a bit!

How do you change a waterpump on a 1987 ford aerostar with a clutch fan

Pretty easy for average mech. first drain coolant by loosening the lower radiator hose.
Make sure to have a drain pan. remove the power steering belt by removing the bolts to the idler pulley. and let belt off the pulley.remove the alternator upper bracket. and remove belt.
Take fan shroud off with two 8mm bolts on top oe it.
You cant remove untill you remove the clutch fan assembly.
It is left handed thread.
It has to be removed together.
Remove the four bolts to the pulley on front of water pump. and then remove all 14mm bolts around the pump.
Then remove 8mm bolts and it will be able to come off. assemble in reverse order!
