Flywheel area, possibly transmission

I have a 1983 Chevy Silverado 6.2 litre diesel 3 speed automatic 4x4 3/4 ton. I recently started having some noise issues from around the flywheel area, looked under my truck and noticed my flywheel cover had been removed without my knowledge. The noise sounded almost like grinding metal, and thought maybe a rock got stuck in the flywheel. The noise continued for a day and then quit. A few days later it started again and stopped 3-4 days later. New problem has arisen. I can shift into reverse but I can't shift into D 2 1. As I'm new to owning a diesel aswell as an automatic, I'm a bit unfamiliar with them. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

The noise might be from a loose bendix on the starter,
the bendix is a little gear in fron of the starter see if there is any visual point to see it nad make sure it keeps away from the flywheel if not have the starter repalced, this bendix have a spring to keep it away from the flywheel also with a flash ligh try to see the closes you can to the center of flywheel sometimes they get crack where they atached to the engine,
and on the shifting might be a bad transmission or the shifter has to be inspected for your mechanic

Please tell me the engine specification of Tata Nexon. Does it is coming in the automatic as well as CNG version in India?

Tata Nexon is the subcompact 4-metre SUV from the Tata Motors, which has created a lot of buzz even before its launch. I don't expect the Tata Nexon gets a CNG kit and it only offered 6-speed manual transmission. Here I specify some of the Tata Nexon specifications, have a look

=> It is available in both the engine. The petrol variants carry 1.2-litre Revotron which produces 110 bhp of power & 15-17kmpl of mileage while diesel have 4-cylinder 1.5-litre Revotorq engine which makes 110 bhp of power & 21-23kmpl mileage.

=> 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, dual front airbags & reverse parking sensors

=> Three drive modes Eco, City and Sport

What transmission come out in a 1983 chevy silverado

It should be the 700 r4 transmission with the 350 block,
unless someone changed it out, it could be a turbo 350, if the truck is a 3/4 ton.
if you have 3 gears and over drive it is a 700 r4
only 3 gears turbo 350

My 1993 chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 wont shift? Its a new transmission and i also just put a new torque converter in it! Speedometer don'w work also!

If your transmission is part electronic, its the tps throttle positioning sensor. if its a diesel it will be on the passenger side of the injector pump, if it's gas same side. if it gets loose or goes bad you will have these problems. and your speedometer problem is likely the speed sensor located at the back end of the transmission. very easy to replace. the tps on a diesel not so easy. good luck!

Sounds like the PRNDL switch on the side of the transmission. Be sure and clear the code before trying to start after replacing it.

BEST TRANSMISSION TO PUT IN A 1983 CHEVORLET C-10 SILVERADO. i'M LOOKING FOR GREAT PERFORMANCE, STRONG PULL, SHOULD BE ABLE TO TOW ANOTHER TRUCK?

If automatic, two good choices are a 700r4 or an older 400 unit. With any automatic a separate cooler is recommended if used for towing, and I'd use a good synthetic fluid as well. If stick, you have numerous choices of any trans used in 3/4 ton applications or better. All have really low first gears and are strong enough to do what you need.
