2005 chevy tahoe 5.3 v-8, the a/c belt shifted over off the pulley a little but not completely off. It's making noise, I tried to correct it by using 3/8 drive. I pulled up on it and it moved but when pushed down on it, it did not move. I couldn't take it off by making pulling on the tensioner it made it tighter. I thinking I need a new a/c tensioner?

Sounds like it. Also check to make sure that the harmonic balancer is not moving forward making a misalignment with the belts.

SOURCE: Changing Serpentine Belt on '01 Impala LS (3.8L)

Can u turn the nut in the opposite direction that u have been trying? U need a lot of leverage to get enough tension off to remove the belt. If u have enough room, add a pipe to the end of your wrench, u will need a lot of room to move the tensioner enough. U might have better luck buying the wrench made for that purpose at a parts store. I think I paid about 25 a couple years ago, I couldn't fit a regular socket and wrench on the tensioner, it was a very tight space.

SOURCE: need to install a serpentine belt for a 1995 Chevy Cavalier..how?

There is a Large Pulley above the Tensioners Small Pulley. This Larger Pulley has a Bolt in the Middle of it. Geta Socket and Wratchet and Tork this Bolt and it will Lower the Tensioner so that you can Reinstall it.

1997 chevy tahoe squeek noise changed belt and tensioner already

It could be a bearing for one of the pulleys.
A simple method to find out is to use a section of heater hose as a hearing device. You move the hose around the pulleys listening for the source of the noise.
Just be careful and don't get too close to the belt or the fan blades.

2005 chevy optra hatchback. Engine making loud ticking noise and the check engine light is flashing on and off. When driving, feels like it's about to stall, and uphill is a struggle.

Check your timing belt, even if your only symptom is loud lifter noise on startup. The belt/pulleys are not designed with deep V grooves and the tensioner is manual, not spring loaded. If the crankshafts stops at a certain point and creates any slack in the belt to the top right lifter pulley, that pulley, under tension from the spring loaded valves, tends to jump a notch. The only solution, after refixing the timing belt correctly (make sure you know how to do this) appears to be careful over-tightening of the manual tensioner and prayer! Bad design.

2003 chevy Tahoe. Squealing noise when idle.

You could have a loose belt, bad pulleys, or belt tensioners. Just pull on your belts first and see if they are loose!

My 2004 Chevy Tahoe is making a grinding/clicking noise when pressing on the gas.

I suggest removing the main drive belt and listen if the noise is still there,if not check for play or noise while spinnig each pulley(alt, water pump,a/c compressor).

What is the size of a serpentine belt to a 2005 chevy tahoe 5.3 v8

It depends. Using GATES belt numbers if its a 105 amp alternator, K060923. 145 amp K060930. Be sure to replace the a/c belt and check the tensioners. A/C belt is K040378. The tensioners should move smoothly the full range, but not forward and back. Think of the tensioners as a pulley on a spring loaded arm. Up and down is good, but not side to side.

2001 Chevy venture belt keeps coming off tensioner pulley. Why is this happening?

you most likely have to change the tensioner assembly some people just change the pulley itself but the arm that the pulley bolts to wears out allowing the arm to shift a little bit forcing the belt to walk off the pulley thats why when it comes to changing a noisey pulley its best to change the whole tensioner

Belt noise

this may be a belt alignment issue, check the relative position of all the pulleys to one another, there may be a recall on this issue, contact your local dealer.
