Just replaced the fuel pump on my Toyota Corolla 2005 and apparently looses pressure when is parked for a while, causing a difficult start. Thanks. Carlos Kall

did you measure fuel pressure? other problems may exist. Start by cleaning the throttle bore with spray carb cleaner and an old toothbrush. Spray cleaner into idle air control valve or its opening and lastly clean PCV valve or just replace it. How many miles on the car?

If you had the pressure tested and is actually low after setting, then the only thing to look for is a leak, If there is no line leak as in the tubing not the connection, there are usually only three connection points for fuel lines at the tank, fuel filter or fuel injector rail, these are most likely place to loose pressure in the line, usually evidence by stains or liquid fuel present

2005 Toyota Corolla not getting fuel to the engine. Will run on starting fluid

Firstly, ensure the fuel pump is okay by checking the pressure of the fuel supplied and replacement of internal fuel pump filter in the fuel tank.

Ensure the nozzles is properly cleaned.

05 corolla, after gassing up, whether partial or full fillup, car is hard to start. will crank but runs rough before going dead. after 3-4 starts and runs fine. toyota dealer checked codes; po 171 system...

Sounds like you may have an issue with the check valve on your in tank fuel pump. When these go bad, you have to crank several time to build up enough pressure in the fuel rail for engine start. With a good check valve, the fuel pressure will not bleed off and the pressure is retained for the next engine start.

Fuel pump

The 05 Corrolla tends to have some fuel pressure issues. It was something that was supposed to be fixed fromt he 04 model but it wasn't. You need to have the fuel pump checked and make sure it is putting out enough pressure. Or you cans imply replce the fuel pump to see if this corrects the problem. Also, when starting the car allow the key to sit in the on position before starting up. This should allow time for fuel pressure to build up nefore trying to turn over the engine. Hope this helps.
