I have a 1997 Chevy silverado 4x4 and when I stomp on the gas it wont go past 3000 RPM's I have done numerous checks and repairs and I would appreciate some help
2000 chevy silverado V8 All of a sudden I went from 17 MPG to 13 MPG. Just before, I added a container of Carb and injector cleaner. No alarms in and all seams well except a noticable amount of HP has been lost and nothing else.
Its the crank angle sensor. it is located behind the starter
I have a 1999 chevy silverado 4.3L. How many knock sensors are on the engine?
Check the catalytic converter its plugged and not letting enough air out of the engine. I am sure its plugged something broke and plugged up pipe, and if thats not the problem you should be showing a engine code light, throttle postion sensor could be bad but you would think that you would get and code. also check your fuel for water. But it sounds like not enough air geting into and out of the engine, try those out .
Another Idea may be your throttle postion sensor have you checked that too? just wondering, another thing is to make sure your fuel pressure is 60psi or more under 60 you will be having problems. changed your fuel filter too.
another thing is to make sure your fuel pressure is 60psi or more under 60 you will be having problems. if thats was the problem I think it was my suggestion should have fixed your problem. Thanks for the Helpful anyways. Thats what kind of stuff makes me not want to do this, As I have stated before on many chevys that year. There is a fuel pump problem with those years. You said you checked the fuel pressure, was it above 60 psi and did act irratic. just wondering. Thanks anyways and take care

Have you checked your air intake also do those things have a coil pack?
Hi, ok I'm sure you tried alot of solutions, I think the ECU has governed the engine must have sensed a previous problem or its just a malfunction from a sensor, important sensor to check is the 'engine knock sensor' try disconnecting and reconnecting it or test with multimeter and compare all readings with a new engine knock sensor or disconnect and reconnect battery, the other way might be to reset the engine managment system, this however I dont know but your dealer can do this for you.

Hi, ok I have done a fuel pressure check and it passed, fuel filter, map sensor. I have replace the distributer cap and rooter I've checked spark plugs, did visual inspection for vacuum leaks and wire connections, changed fuel regulator, I hooked scan tool to it and ck'd engine codes (the only code was oxygen sensor low voltage circuit burning lean) checked timing, injectors seemed fine when checked with scan tool.
It has that HVS system and I have checked my air intake. So what would you suggest? It only has one coil and module and I have changed them.
Thanks for all the help everyone, it ended up being that the fuel pump was bad.
misses and sometimes won't start for no reason
