2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
The check engine light came on and gave a P0443 code.
It says it could be 1 of 4 things:
1 Purge or vent solenoids defective
2 Check connector and wiring
3 Fuel saturated vapor canister
4 Failed EVAP vent solenoid
How do I go about checking these things?

If you have a local AutoZone close...go there and let them plug in the OBIS3. Not only will it tell you the same things you have shown here...ask them how to fix to check the issues. They will give you a print out that will help walk you through it.

DTC P0443
Circuit Description
An ignition voltage is supplied directly to the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve. The EVAP canister purge valve is pulse width modulated (PWM). The scan tool displays the amount of ON time as a percentage. The control module monitors the status of the driver. The control module controls the EVAP canister purge valve ON time by grounding the control circuit via an internal switch called a driver. If the control module detects an incorrect voltage for the commanded state of the driver, this DTC sets.
Suggest you view video's on youtube for testing PCM/ECM drivers , scanner danner videos . You may have a fried driver . The computer isn't controlling it .
First......clear those codes and see if they return before doing anything.Purge valve is on the vent line from tank to engine ,usually in the engine compartment, and vent valve is on the line from tank to outside air, usually by the fuel tank.Don't change any parts until you check them and their circuits with a good scan tool.

Code po443 is for EVAP purge solenoid malfunction which will cause the car to stall. Also over filling gas also causes the EVAP canister to choke with excess gas.
Please perform the following test the component failure:-
Tests/Procedures:
1. Monitor the purge solenoid for having 12v Key On Engine Running (KOER).
2. Using a voltmeter attached to the White wire, monitor for 12v to come and go.
3. Check the purge solenoid for clicking at idle.
Tech Tips:
If the voltage is alternating from 12-0 volts, that indicates that the ECM is trying to trigger the solenoid. If there is no clicking, the solenoid is faulty.
After putting more fuel in the vehicle
Open the hood
On the righthand side of the engine just to the side of valve cover, back by the firewall you will find a round plunger about 1 1/2" in diameter. The plunger will push down and come right back up on its own. Push the plunger rapidly till the pushing gets firmer or stiff.
Start it up. Sometimes it will have to be done a couple of times. I actually fined it works best to pump it firm and then have someone else start it while you keep pumping it. If you do it this way make sure your body is clear of all moving parts.
This is a very fast way of getting it going
Good luck
