Need help replacing the starter for 2000 dodge caravan
DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, JACK UP AND SUPPORT YOUR CARAVAN. LYING ON YOUR BACK LOCATE THE STARTER WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE ENGINE THROUGH THE BELL HOUSING .THERE ARE TWO 15 MILIMETER BOLTS THAT HOLDS THE STARTER ON . AFTER BREAKING THE BOLTS A 15MM WRENCH WOULD BE USEFUL.
Just want to add to INSIGHTAEM's solution. Not trying to be a smartass, there are 3 bolts on my starter that keep it on.I replaced my starter today, and I'll say it was easy. All the bolts were easy to access.I bought mine off E-Bay for about $70.00 for a remanufactured one.So far,so good.

Ah, the old catch 22! Two possibilities, 1. would u like to save $ and do it yourself? If u can jack the vehicle up and put it on safety stands (or something sturdy like concrete blocks or large wood timbers) u can remove the starter. It isn't very difficult on this vehicle. It involves removing 3 connections, 2 bolts. 2nd possibility, do u belong to AAA? If u do, they will tow it 5 miles for free under regular plan, 100 miles under extended plan for free. Also check your car insurance co., they might provide free tow. Let me know what u decide.
