Ive got a 92 saturn 4 door auto (sl2)? with a 97 engine (just replaced). when approaching 30mph it starts to make a clicking sound similar to a starter with a dead battery. I notice that when i hit the gas it starts clicking (still accelerating) and when i take my foot off the gas :( any advice would be great! thx : )

There was a problem with 95-99 Saturn junction blocks. Loose fitting to pin connections in the actual connectors pulling loose which would create a similar symptom. Both under the instrument panel and in the engine compartment. You might be able to get a copy of the TSB from the Saturn dealer it is Bulletin No 03-08-45-001 issued May, 2003 Good luck.
With a filter change along with the changing of oil. I would start with four quarts, than start the engine let it run for a second. After that turn it of check the oil, and top off as necessary. Roughly guessing I would say it holds about 4 1/4 quarts. Or could take up to five, its safe to start engine after four quarts. BE SURE to start engine after four quarts for 10-20 seconds, and then turn off to recheck. Too much oil can be catastrophic. (if no oil is showing on the dipstick than it is more than one quart low. The lowest point on dipstick represents one quart low, the middle is half a quart, and full is full) :)
MY CAR IS A 92 OLDS 88.. IT WAS DOING A SIMILAR THING..TIMING IS NOT ADJUSTABLE..MOST LIKELY ITS THE CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR..THEY ARE NOTORIOUS FOR GOING OUT ALL THE TIMES ON THESE ENGINES...IVE REPLACED MINE TWICE...CHECK ELECTRNIC MODULE FIRST,,O'RIELLYS CHECKS THEMFOR FREE AFTER YOU REMOVE AND TAKE IT IN... I BET ITS THE SENSOR..TIMIMNG CHAINS RARELY GO OUT
Form the saturn..........when starters age they tend to have problems when engine hot.You need to replace the starter. As for the wagon it sounds like some sort of ignition problem if it's turning but not starting........I have seen o2 sensors cause this behavior. However to be sure you need to obtain an OBDII code reader to be positive of the issue. Thanks for choosing FIX YA!
Hi, the clunking sounds like a constant velocity joint (C V joint). It is usually better to replace the whole shaft (half shaft). Yes there are 2.
The check engine light can be checked at any Autozone or similar store. They will put an ODB2 scanner on it for free. Thier diagnostic machine will give them a code similar to code 34 or something like that. This is where they mess up. They don't know what that means. You may need to get the code and do a little searching yourself to get an acurate meaning. DO NOT BELIEVE THE AUTOZONE EMPLOYEE INTERPRETATION ON THE DIAGNOSTIC. Do the search yourself.
Good luck and let me know how it turns out. James
