I have 320i - 2003 model , Engine E46. The problem is that the car has no good power when you accelerate plus it smokes heavily when you press accelerator or high rave. Car travelled Kilometers is 59,000. What is worrying most is the heavy smoking at the exhaust. What could be the problem?

Might not be head gasket. Could also be worn piston rings or valve guides, both leak oil causing smoke and are expensive. OR much cheaper is to get the exhaust gas recirculation system checked out. Clogged breather pipes etc upset the engine management and can cause smoke and bad running. BM forums have lots of experts that I have obtained lots of detailed info for my car in the past. Best of luck.

My 2001 white infiniti Qx4 is smoking heavily

What colour is the smoke? The easiest way to check this is on first start when the engine is cold. This can give clues as to where the problem could be. is the vehicle doing anything else different?
A blue exhaust smoke is commonly oil getting into the cylinders. White smoke suggests coolant getting into the cylinders. Black smoke is the engine running too rich. Blue or white smoke can often mean a blown head gasket. On a 2001 engine that could the most likely reason.

Good day i have n e46 320i car is smoking and useing oil

do a compression test and see what compression you have to check to see if its piston rings or valves.or valve seals, it's more likely to be the valve seals as they are prone to fail over time. video on changing valve stem seals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM9KXEw_Wd8. also check these as well as they are prone to leak as well
Rocker cover gasket
Ol filter housing
CCV pipe
You have to remove the aluminium support tracy at the bottom of the engine so you can see where its coming from.

Why does vvti engine SMOKING HEAVILY 135000kms .1.6 verso. is this common?

if its black smoke then its a fuel problem too much fuel the car can`t burn it . could be fuel injector over fueling. if its white smoke then its burning coolant, there is a head gasket problem that is damaged in the cyl #3 area. it could also be a bad valve guide/valve seal, oil rings, compression rings. you don`t say what colour the smoke is.

What type of engine oil for a 320i bmw e46

Use a good synthetic oil 5W30 or 5W40 or 0W40. I think you have to use the bmw long life oil rating.
