I think this about covers whatever you'd need to do for you car. I've been told some of these things before but not all of them. If you'd like another opinion you could ask your mechanic and they should be able to help you.http://www.enckssunoco.com/services.html

It is mandatory to change the engine oil of the vehicle on its schedule time. To perform your car well on the road, you need regular vehicle maintenance on a particular time intervals. https://gocarcraft.com/oil-change/

Generally these days auto fluid is changed between
35-50 000km, although if it was my car I wld change the fluid, filter & gasket @ approx 15-20 000 from new (due to the possibility of fluid being contaminated with iron fillings wich is common when things are bedding in...) and after that probably every 40 000km unless otherwise specified. Also a good indicaction is to smell & look @ the fluid on the dipstick, if it smells burnt & looks dark brown/black it is definitly time for an auto service ie. New fluid, filter & pan gasket.

I did inquired on this yesterday and check transmission fluid not only is it on darker brownish and black in color also thicker then normal.

When it is this bad, do 2 fluid changes at least, driving for a day or 2 in between.

The reason is that not all the trans oil drains out when changed, some is trapped in the internal workings.

Transmission dragging

Hi Liz, It could be a number of problems, most often its the fluid as well as the transmission filter.
VW can charge up to 350 to do this job, because the transmission fluid is highly refined oil almost to the point of mineral oil.
I highly recommend that whoever if indeed the fluid is dated;changes the transmission fluid that you use onlt Vwbrand fluid in it.
There is a oil cooler that can sometimes get corroded after time, this could also cause the transmission to be sluggish.
but if you need a good starting point I would put my money on the fluid change,Some People recomend that the fluid be replaced as well as filter at every 40,000 miles.
ps. the good news is my eurovan's transmission just turned 200,000 miles.keep the fluid clean, keep the fluid cool you should get the same.Gary

1995 dodge stratus transmission slips sometimes

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for at least 5mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal operation.

You may want to replace the transmission fluid as well for it can be burnt.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

How often do you change transmission oil

  • Do a drain and fill every 30,000 miles to keep the fluid from getting burnt or less effective. ATF-Z21 fluid is Honda recommended for your transmission.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

no need to change the transmission. just the fluid and filter in your transmission. 90.000 miles is really too far to go without the fluid and filter changed. your fluid needs changed as well as the filter in the transmission. i do recommend you add lucas transmission treatment to your transmission fluid and filter replacement though. it costs an extra $12.00 for the treatment but well worth it.if you have a sticky valve in your transmission,it will free it up and add extra life to all moving parts,i also recommend it in oil changes as well. you'll find that if you use the lucas,it will save money on fuel mileage and easy on the pocket book in the long run. i have 1994 ford explorer 4x4 with over 400.000 miles with no problems so far, just trying to do a million miles.i discovered lucas by accident 10 years ago and have been a faithful consumer so far as well as recommending it to my customers.they produce fuel, oil, transmission, and rear end treatments to those that still drive the rear wheel drive vehicles.your problem sounds like a stuck valve or sticky valve in your transmission,so i do recommend you have that fluid and filter changed whether you decide to use lucas or not. thank you for choosing fixya.com

When i start up my jeep i have to let it idle in

Hi, Sorry your having problems.
The first thing we can do is check the fluid level.

Please start the engine - let idle and then -
1-open the hood and
2 wearing gloves - pull the transmission dip stick out and look closely at the fluid level.

If this gets you going - drive to the local parts house and have the do a code reading - this is done for free by our Advance Auto stores here.

Best of it.

Do yourself a big favor and buy a new filter, and make sure you use ATF4 transmission oil only. If you go directly to the Chrysler dealer, you will get all the right parts and fluids recommended, and probably as cheap, or cheaper than autoparts stores. I have heard and seen too many situations where it was changed with other brands of parts and oils, at a quick lube place and problems occurred, and were only cured after replacing them with filter and especially fluid from dealer. ATF4 at dealer is expensive, but doesn't need changing after, under normal driving conditions.

What should be done to service the transmission? is it beneficial to change fluid ? ? synthetic thank you

How many miles on car?
Do you know the service record for the transmission?
Having any problems?
Does the fluid have a normal color? Smell Burnt??
Personal Opinion:
If the car has high miles and the transmission seems to work well and the fluid seems normal let it be. If you decide to change the fluid, use the mfg, recommended type only (no synthetic), change the filter, gasket and clean the pan (do not flush).
Good luck

The tranny fluid is full but brown and smells like gas...any idea

Transmission is worn and previous owner has added transmission fluid additives like Lucas transmission oil to try to make it last longer. The fluid is burn and needs to be changed, best thing to do is to have the transmission fluid and filter changed and add some additives to the fluid and try not to drive it to hard.
It shift's hard when your driving at normal speeds because the fluid is thicker then it should and the transmission line pressure is higher due to the thicker fluid. At WOT the transmission slips so it seams smoother and that's why the fluid is burnt.
Good luck and hope this helps. Do not do a trany flush, the transmission is already worn out, but the dirty fluid will make it worst too.
