Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L 2002 misfire initially when cold for a short time until warm. After mechanics tried to find problem, no. 3 & 4 plugs no spark. Two months later at the Jeep garage they replaced the ECM but 3 & 4 plugs still no spark. They said the ECM had blown. Coil pack was also replaced but no solution. Can the car start with ECM faulty or blown? What could be the cause of the minor misfire and no spark on 3 & 4 plug.

You say you changed the cam sensor. A1391 code is a crank sensor on the top of the trans. bell housing.

yah direct ignition coil pack does away for the need a a distributer cap and rotor.much higher energy ignition system where the computer tell when to fire.if that helps.not hard to change.as long as you change them one at a time so you don't screw up the order.

SOURCE: Ok I have 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I have

The code indicates the coil pack or spark plug is malfunctioning. You can test this using an additional person. by removing the coil pack and spark plug, place the spark plug into the coil pack and ground the tang on the spark plug to the engine. Have someone start the engine and watch for a blue spark. if there is no spark, then the coil pack is malfunctioning. There is also ways to check the coil packs using a multimeter.

also, bee sure you didnt crack the ceramic part of the plug during initial installation.

I have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee and it miss firing and shuting off on me when i drive what can it be and where is the fuel fillter at i couldnt find it anywhere under the truck can you give me details on...

Recently had random misfires on my Jeep. Only happened after starting it (warm or cold) and did so only for a short time period. Ended up being fwd O2 sensor. But if yours keeps doing this constantly, not sure. I think the fuel filter is in the gas tank (requires dropping for replacement).

Have a 99 jeep grand cherokee 4.7. it runs ok for 5mins when cold then once it warms up it seems like it is running out of gas, then shuts off and won't start until cool again. Also has small tap or knock...

this happened to me, it ended up being a bad coil mine had the independent coils (one for each spark plug) and it was causing a misfire which caused an audible ticking as well. i bought one and just kept moving it to the next until i found the one that needed to be changed its a electronic device and thats why it fails when it gets hot.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2000 V8 Quada track - shutters at times while moving sort of like a cylinder misfired. Usually when warm but no code is identified. Occasionaly the engine dies at a stop but starts...

OK do the usual, check your plugs and check your plug sockets and leads for signs of shorting out against the cylinder head etc check the cap and distributor. My guess is that at least one of your coils (on plugs) has failed and this will reveal itself by the state of the spark plug(s) associated with it (them). Sudden stall when coming to halt with a hot engine and then to have immediate start up is almost always due to faulty coils(s). Strangely the propensity to stall is often reduced when the engine is still cold!!

My 06 grand cherokee is misfireing bad they changed the spark plugs and coil pack but now the mechanic tels me its a valve is this common

did the mechanic check your wires? My ford had a misfire in the #3 and it was a spark plug wire. I have found a misfire can be caused by an assortment of things. Has he ruled out other cheaper fixes? You should get a second opinion, without mentioning the first mechanics prognosis. Then if answer is same thats probably your problem.

I was having the same problem with my Jeep.... I tried everything and nothing worked... Finally I changed the Crank senor and my problem was solved. You must get this part from the dealer (OEM) in order for your problem to be solved. AutoZone or aftermarket parts will not work...

The fan works but my 2002 jeep grand cherokee wont blow heat what is wrong

It could be the thermostat or a plugged heater core. Check hoses going in to firewall after the vehicle has reached operating temperature for a drastic change in temperature if one hose is hot and the other cold or just warm your heater core could be plugged and would need to be flushed.
