That is a good sign, it is working, my oil pressure fluctuates like a tachometer, at idle it is low, like 20 lbs, then when I 'm cruising, 35lbs, but it goes up and down when you pump the gas. The pressure gauge is reading the oil pressure at the top of the engine, it will show 45 lbs with only 1 qt of oil in there, it is not an oil level gauge. You might have an oil light buried on the dash somewhere that will light up if the oil gets too low. ,, Now about that coolant leak, it should have nothing to do with the oil pressure. Is it a hose? Radiator? Joint at the top of the engine? Where is it leaking, and what is it doing? Does it over heat? Or did it overheat? Is there oil floating at the top of the radiator? Does it blow steam out the exhaust? Does it have coolant or just water? Check it out. hope this helps.

Why does my oil gauge vibrate when at a stop after driving freeway speeds, 2002 ford Ranger?

Factory gauges (especially Fords) are not known for being terribly accurate or reliable. As long as the gauge is pointed in the "normal" range, I wouldn't be too concerned.
If you want to pursue it, remove the oil pressure sending unit and perform an oil pressure test with a mechanical gauge. If the mechanical gauge fluctuates the same way, suspect a worn or failing oil pump. If the gauge is stable, I would suspect a faulty oil pressure sending unit.
If the truck has high miles, consider moving up to higher viscosity oil or adding an oil stabilizer. If could just be that the oil is breaking down when it's hot and the engine can hold consistent pressure with the thinning oil.

Oil pressure gage fluctuates;red oil icon stays on; alarm bell keeps ringing. I added 2 qts of oil. no change.

Hello,I can help you with your buick oil pressure problem. This is the 3800 engine correct? Is engine noisey? Would be best to install a mechnical oil pressure gauge on your engine to see if you are actually losing oil pressure or we have another problem. this tells you exactly what the engine is doing. If you do not have one the cheapest thing to try is replacing the oil pressure sending unit.if sender is defective it will cause your problem. This sending unit is above the oil filter.

Should the oil pressure gauge fluctuate with speed

The oil pressure guage will fluctuate with engine RPM. At idle it should be approximately 20 lbs./sq.in, at high revs about 50-60 lbs./sq.in. Hope this helps any concerns you may have. Good luck!

The oil pressure guage on my 2006 nissan frontier is reading very high after recently changing the oil, however, the correct amount of oil was added during the change. Furthermore the oil dipstick...

The guage may rise a little when you accelerate the vehicle...but if it is pegged high, and does not fluctuate, when you turn your ignition key on an off...Your oil pressure switch maybe going bad...Goodluck

Fluctuating oil pressure gauge.

Two quarts is about half the capacity. The pump was probably starved of lubrication and is failing.

If that's not expensive enough, you may now have a problem with a damaged engine. You may want to just put that money into a new vehicle.

I don't think the car would have enough power in its present condition to get high enough to reach a cliff, and driving it into a lake would not be environmentally sound. Besides, the fine would not be worth it.

The cheapest and easiest maintainance that anyone can do on a car to avoid expensive repairs is still checking the oil ever 1000 miles (filling if necessary!) and changing it every 3000.

Heat blowing Cold when in drive. When in Park, it is warm

have you chg. any thing lately like thermostate? added any coolent to system? if not, thermostate could be stuck in the open position. if stuck open, setting still, it will throw heat, but moving coolent flows to fast and does not get a chance to get hot. if you did chg. thermostate it could have a air pocket in the system. and also adding coolent can create an air pockets too. you will know this when your traveling down the road and temp guage fluctuates up and down. witch means air in system.
