SOURCE: does a 2002 Aerio have a timing chain or a belt?

Also known as a Liana in some markets, this may have either a "G" series or a "J" series motor in it. This can be checked by finding the engine number - either G16B123456 or J18A123456. The G series is belt driven, while the J series is chain driven (2 chains).

I need the number on the serpentine belt of my suzuki aerio sx 2002

Put the car in neutral with hand brake on. Take a socket wrench that fits the power steering or alternator pulley bolt ( or any one you can get to easily. )

You should be able to ratchet the pulley along with the serpentine belt around the belts's travel inch by inch and look for the number on top of the belt

How to change serpentine belt on 2002 aerio

For the 2002 Aerio you need a long slender belt tool readily available from your local N.A.P.A. store. Then go find the belt on the front of the engine and locate the Idler Pulley. From there it gets easier actually. Use that tool you have to pull the Idler and the belt can be easily pulled out and the new one dropped in right behind it. Because space is at a premium conventional sockets and wrenches will not fit or do the job properly.

The serpentine belt needs changing

If you have basic mechanic skills & tools you can do it. The procedure is relatively easy.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable
  2. Remove engine under cover of right side from vehicle body.
  3. Loosen tensioner by turning the tensioner pulley clockwise.
  4. While holding the tensioner remove belt.7282d04.gif
  5. Hope this helps, you can do it.
