Ignition ,i think and either a crank sensor or an ignition module ,but as this is a vehicle built for the american market as a V6 wouldnt sell here only seen diesel volvos unless its an older 240 .I did have a V6 given to me once it was a renault engine but i sold it for scrap to a portugese man who took it back to portugal as he wanted the body parts .This had an ignition module and a distributor ,think it was a 93 or a 94 but V6 petrol at the price of fuel here ??and it was a automatic ,its the dash light here thats confusing me when it does start do the dash lights come on ?? if so then i would hazard a guess and say CPS
when the dash lights go on yes it starts every time, also the check engine light is very bright when i know it is going to operate properly, then it will start. It randomly works as i pull the key and reverse and forward advance the key some times it just acts correctly. lso i have noticed when it acts up it is shorting on the power side if fuse 17 which could be 5 things :( it is 95 so odb2 does not work and i have not the 2500 for the isat or gm/saab scan tool.
to be honest i have no idea at the moment a customer is ringing the bell so i must go i will have a think about this and reply tonight
seems weird this ,i did think of sugesting changing the whole ECU transponder and chip in the key ,but if if you wiglle and twiddle the key it will work so this could be a fault with the electrical switch at the back of the ignition switch in which case it shouldnt be difficult or expensive to repair .also if the switch is broke a bit of copper contact if floating about inside it could be shorting something out on the aux side of the circuit hence fuse 17 ,,take the contact switch off ,unplug it then put key in and try the contacts on the connection plugs with a paper clip and see if it works first time
Thx for your time! I will tear into it this weeken to give full attention. The dash n. Center conse r already pulled 1/2 way there...post when find the issue. Looking At the ignition wiring diagram seems they removed the antitheft to avoid having to repair or get it reprogramed. Thx i think we are on the right track. Rowdy
