Cant figure out how to remove outside door handle on 92 saturn sl2. need to work on window regulator. thanks for any help.

You will need to remove the outside panel to service the window or window regulator or the window motor. The outer panel is held in place with a dozen or so bolts that a male torx socket is needed to remove. You will first remove the trim piece that is on the upper back of the outside of the door, two screws. Then remove the window seal on the outside of the window. Then remove the outer door handle. Then remove the torx bolts and lift up on the door skin, you may have to wiggle a little to get it to pop.

your window regulator is broken. There are several screws that hold the outside door skin on your vehicle. If you remove all of these screws and disconnect the outside door handle, you can remove the outer skin and see what is broken.

clear packing tape.

I assume you are talking about a door window? Does not come out thru the interior panels. Look around the edges of the door and you will see some star bolts. After removing the mirror and the door handle, take all those star bolts out and gently lift the exterior door panel up and then out. There will be two plastic nuts holding the window to the regulator. Take those off carefully, and your window will lift up and out.

As per the Haynes manual for your vehicle.
DOOR WINDOW GLASS-REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION:
1. Remove the door outer panal.
2. Lower the window glass.
3. remove the two nuts and one screw securing the glass.
4. Remove the glass by lifting it up carefully and rotating it inward.
5. Installation is reversal of removal.

DOOR OUTER PANAL-REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION:
1. Remove door trim panal.
2. Remove the outside mirror. Remove the foam block from the mirror opening.
3. Remove the outside door handle.
4. Open the door and pry thhe outer sealing strip out of the window glass opening.
5. remove the door panal screws.
6. Detach the front and rear of the outer panel, then lift it toward the rear to remove it.
7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Apply thread locking compound to the panel retaining screws.

OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE-REMOVAL:
1. Pull handle out and puch the centers of the retaining pins through the pins, then remove them and detach handle. (These pins are located underneath the handle.

Just wanted to let everyone know, in order to change the window regulator on a 1996 saturn you do need to remove the exterior door which is connected by about ten lock screws around the inside of the door. you also need to remove the side view mirror and the door handle which has a little plug on the bottom right side that should come out with a pair of needle nose or something, then the handle should slight to the left and off. Pull the hole outer panel up and off and there you go. But you do still need to remove the inner door panel to put new nuts and bolts to hold the new regulator in because the orginals are held in buy rivets so you have to drill those out.

I don't think you need to remove the outer door handle.I hope this helps and google search a bit on it and you will get the answer.According to my experience,to replace the window you don't need to remove to outside door handle..Hope this helps.

If you have power windows start by disconnecting your negative battery cable. Then you need to locate and remove the screws that hold your door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on clips). Once you remove the screws that hold the door handles, remove any wire connectors to the handles, if they're not power you will need a small hook (kinda like a knitting needle) to remove the window crank. A manual window crank is held in place by a clip on the base. Slide the hook behind the base and remove the clip. The door panel itself, is held on by snap in clips, and you will need a small pry bar to pull them from the door (try to gat as close to, or directly under the clips to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel). Once the clips are removed from the door, pull the panel upward to remove it from the door.

Install in reverse.

Yep! There are two slide pins on the door handle that are very small. They need to be pushed out with a pick type devise. Be careful not to loose them since they will need to go back in the same slot...they can be pushed forward towards the front of the car, or backwards towards the back of the car. Then you will need to take the torx screws out of the inside panel. It might be a # 30 torx wrench...I not exactly sure.

not too sure on this one...but on most Saturns the out side door skin is removed to gain access into the door. look on the inside of the door around the perimeter for large torx screws, if there remove them, lift up the outside door handle on one side there is a plactic plug, remove plug, push handle to side and remove. remove the outer door skin. (your original question...the window crank is held on by a horseshoe clip like this...)
