Shift slam fix, could be your valve body needs replaced, could tighten the input shaft nut, throw a new thermo in there along with a ****** flush, test for catcon cloggage by unplugging your front o2 and drive for a second to see if proformance is restored , dont forget to check that egr valve those can be tricky at times, last but not least dont for get to test your tps pull that plug on it and test it out , thats my best i could give on the topic

Unfortunatly my transmission does the same thing. I had it repaired for about $800 only to have the same thinig happen again about 4 months down the road. It seems that there are alot of horror stories about these saturn transmissions. My trans has been slamming for about 3 years now and it still works...per say. Id say either replace it or just drive it until it breaks.

My manual transmission was fixed ($2000 ) becuse it did not shift right and it would idle high. I drove it for 5 month, and it is back to the same condition. I still like the car though. It doesn't eat gas at all.

2002 auto saturn sl1 revs a little high, and shifts a little hard when going between gears?

I just went through the same thing and checked the air idle control valve, and the throttle position sensor. . took it off and cleaned it. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it. Listened for vacuum leaks. Then after the same problem persisted, I sprayed brake cleaner directly on the intake manifold gasket between cylinders 1 and 2 and just like that, the RPM"S went down. I need a new intake manifold gasket.

95 SATURN HOW TO TIGHTEN A GEAR SHIFT LINKAGE

I take it that you have a standard transmission ? there is no adjustment, but on the saturns the plastic insert on the shifter lever (remove the center console) is what breaks, Napa auto parts has the replacement part for about $20, or you can go to saturn and spend $200 on replacing both cables

What years are interchangeable for a manual 5speed transmission in a 1999 saturn sl1?

96-99 SL1, SC1, SW1. Avoid the 2 models, they are DOHC and have different gear ratios

1997 manual transmission will not shift properly. It started by kicking out of 5th gear on the highway and now it is shifts correctly sometimes and sometimes it wont go into any gear at all. Does this...

I think you need to call around to junkyards and find a used transmission to fit your car. You can find sites by googling it as well. Most likely any saturn manual transmission 91-98 will fit, possibly even up to 2002 if you stay with the S series cars. They have an interchange which will tell you.
Take this time to replace the clutch too. The big caveat here is that the DOHC cars SL2 SW2 SC2, transmissions have a different final gear ratio than the SOHC cars Sl1, SC1 SW1 so you have to know which type you have and get one from a donor vehicle which is the same.

2002 Saturn SL1 - Losing reverse and second gear

The simple answer is that there are two loose nuts in the transmission.

The output shaft nuts are loose. The are behind a cover that you can see through the driver's side wheel well.

1997 sL1 Saturn manual transmission hard to change gears

The dipstick is behind the battery, below the master brake cylinder and is not the clutch reservoir. It has a red flip top handle instead of a ring like most dipsticks. It was hard for me to find due to engine grease. I had the same problem and was able to see that I was low on fluid (only a little) and adding fluid helped the problem.
