If the shifter is stuck in Park, most likely the shift interlock is malfunctioning. The interlock solenoid,or actuator,is mounted on the shifter, and locks or unlocks the shifter in Park postion based on whether your foot is depressing the brake pedal. The problem could be the brake pedal switch, the interlock solenoid,or the wiring between the two. Also check all your taillight bulbs, third brake light bulbs,or any bulbs involved in the brake lights circuit.I have seen a brake light bulb that was burned out, cause the same symptoms as yours, but it was a different make vehicle.

SOURCE: Cruise control does not work
On my 05 Wrangler Unlt'd Ruby - The vacuum hose on the drivers side of engine had come off, which disengaged my Cruise and the actuator which determines whether my heater points to the vent, Defrost or feet. Put it back on and secure with a cable tie.
If it is like mine, you will then have idling problems, especially when coming to a stop. You will need to clean the throttle body because the engine has picked up **** through the open port while it was off. Directions for that exist on this site elsewhere.
All of these are easy - i hadn't worked on a car in >25 years and it took me 30 min.

SOURCE: Automatic Gear Shifter Light Burned Out
You shifter indicator bulb (194 bulb number) has burned out. Pretty easy and cheap fix. The top of the indicator has to be removed/lifted up and teh bulb needs to be replaced.

Likely you have a shift control module malfunction. Module is probably on the right side fender in the engine compartment. Check to see if you have one (some do and some dont... go figure...I've got a 91 & 95... I have about five different diagrams and NONE apply to my vehicles)
