2000 Silverado will not start!

A week ago, I was able to start the engine but it would crank slowly for about 3 or 4 times then it would run fine. I thought it was the starter motor or battery, so I replaced them both.

With a new battery and starter, the engine will not start at all, not even a crank. I hope someone knows the gripe to this...please help

It sounds like you have a ground problem. Have you checked to see that the "new" battery is fully charged? Have you checked to see if the starter motor is getting current when you try to start the truck? Have you checked to see if the battery cables and terminals are corroded, or the cables themselves corroded at any point? You also might have an ignition switch problem due to age or use. You also might have a computer problem that is keeping the circuits from connecting properly. If you have a OBD II scanning tool, it might well tell you exactly where the problem is. Scanners are inexpensive and available almost everywhere. I bought mine through Amazon for less than $25 including shipping.

Check the ignition and Engine relay switches located under the hood. Sometimes relays go weak with age and even a bump on the road will shut them off. If you can turn the truck on, take it to Autozone or similar store for a free DTC scan code.

My truck did this after I replaced the fuel pump. Turned out to Fuel Pressure Regulator. It would crank and crank but never start. It's located underneath the black plastic manifold on the side of the injectors.

try checking the crank sensor. if a crank sensor goes bad or is damaged it will not allow the plugs to fire but you should still have fuel pressure. also check all connections.

Cranks but won't start

Depending on the year make and model, a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) would help. Is the check engine light on when it does run? Testing needs to be done. Check for spark at the plug, make sure fuel pressure is what it should be and that the fuel injectors are working. If all that is good, I would check compression and timing.

I just put a fuel pump in my 2000 chevy silverado 2 weeks ago and now it wont run and all the fuel pump will do is click when you turn the key on but it only clicks once?

spray gasoline or carb cleaner into intake. If engine starts, it's a fuel problem. You have a bad (new) fuel pump or relay. Either no power to pump or pump is bad (unlikely but possible).

2000 silverado wont start

one good way to check that the fuel pump is running to listen. take the gas cap of and put you ear the the fuel tank fill neck. have a freind turn the key from the off position to the on position, but do not start the crank the engine over. you should hear a huming or wizzing sound for a few short moments. if you hear that sound the pump is running and more thatn likely pumping fuel.

you may need to get the fuel pump tested for proper voltage and pressure

2000 Silverado will not start

reach under your truck and hit the fuel tank a couple of times. If your fuel pump is going out, often it will get it going again (TEMPORARILY) enough to get it someplace to fix.

When attempting to start truck it doesn't seem like i'm getting g

sounds like the fuel pump pressure check valve has failed, when this happens it will cause long crank times, run a fuel pressure leak down test, turn the engine on with a test gauge attached to the test port on the top of engine, shut the engine off and watch the fuel pressure, it should not drop more than a few PSI.

Hard starting

check the battery cable connection that is sandwiched between the battery and the outside cable, It runs the computer and if it is corroded, clean it with sandpaper. Mine was loose and corroded and I would stall out of no where.
