It should have worked from the cigarette lighter.
Strange ...
You do have your strip light polarity correct, I guess?
Is the strip working?
Temporarily hook it up to your battery to check.

SOURCE: 12 Volt Cigarette Lighter / Accessory dead

Most likely just replace it. You could pull the fuse and then use a small screwdriver to try and pull the tabs inside the receiver in toward the center a little. It could be that repeated insertion and extraction of the lighter or accessory plug has bent them outward enough that they're not making sufficient contact to power what you plug in. If that doesn't work, replace it and then put the fuse back in.

SOURCE: 2005 Chevrolet Uplander LT - Cigarette and Aux power outlet not working

if the fuse is good and there is no relay then either you have a loose ground/positve wire or the socket is bad. you can easily purchase a after market socket from Napa or Oreillys for a few dollars of the problem is not a loose wire or bad fuse. good luck please rate this solution...thanks

SOURCE: Cigarette lighter not working properly in Pontiac...

This is a very common issue, either the ground at the back of the lighter socket is pulled off, or more likely the socket is defective, they are very easy to change, u can use a generic replacement from any parts store, the factory part will be at least 2X as much..

SOURCE: Fuse to suburban cigarette lighter/power locks keeps blowing.

Unplug cigarette lighter, check circuit, unplug each door individualy at first, Don't forget the back doors, check circuit. Usualy the door wiring is damaged but there may be more then two cigarette lightes depending on the model.

SOURCE: Engine check light just came on....neighbor hooked

The code is pretty standard and has to do with emissions. Manufacturers these days have strict rules to emissions that the car puts out. So, this code relates to that. It is Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction A code P0440 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

  • The gas cap is not installed or working properly
  • The purge solenoid has failed
  • The canister is plugged and not working properly

P0440 EVAP System No Flow During Purge Possible Causes Setting Conditions
  • Charcoal canister is loaded with fuel or moisture
  • Fuel filler cap is loose, cross-threaded, damaged or wrong part
  • Fuel tank, fuel filler neck or fuel sending unit 'O' ring is leaking
  • Fuel tank pressure sensor is damaged, disconnected or it failed
  • Fuel tank vapor line(s) is clogged, damaged or disconnected
  • Purge valve vapor line is clogged, damaged, or disconnected
  • Purge or vent solenoid power circuit is open (check the fuse)
  • PCM has failed
So, basically if you drove around with the gas cap off, or something else has happened, then this code would come up.

I would disconnect battery for 1 minute, and reconnect and see if the warning light comes back on.

Just remember you might lose your radio code if you do this.

Let me know how it goes...

I just bought a 2020 heartland 305 toy hauler. The problem is nothing works on 12 volt. I tested the battery and it's good. I turned the battery disconnect key both ways and nothing either way works. I was...

Try plugging it in if the 12-volt stuff starts working then you know the charger converter is working and your battery disconnect is not hooking up to the battery you need to test power on both sides of the switches or see if you have any power at the 12-volt fuses with a test light maybe the disconnect switch ...the manual one... broke inside and there could also be another electrical battery disconnect switch from the inside of the coach either way most of them are wired so if you are plugged into household current the 12-volt should work off the converter even without a battery unless the main power for the fuse panel is fed from the batteries theirselves also you can test a 12-volt ground Circuit by applying your test light to a clean part of the chassis and putting the positive on the coach batteries and see if you have a light if you don't you have a bad ground

How do I change the voltage meter on a bailey orion

I have just sorted the same problem on my van. The power supply was working fine, everything 12 volt worked with mains connected, but the battery wasn't charging, and the 12 volt lights wouldn't work if the mains was not connected.

After spending several frustrating hours with a multimeter, I worked out that everything on the power supply side was working fine, including the output circuit for battery charging. That only left one thing - the cable that runs from the power supply to the battery. I put the caravan up on ramps and climbed underneath. I found the cable that goes to the battery and there was a connector in it. I pulled the connector apart and found the metal blades inside had corroded away. I bought and fitted a new connector, and filled it with silicon sealer so it is completely sealed against moisture ingress. Problem solved.....good luck

I connect the acc wire to 12 volt and stereo stays on all the time

The accessory wire is suppose to be hooked up to your ignition wire and not a constant 12 volt power source. Hooking it up to your ignition wire will only give the stereo power when your key is in the accessory position or in the running position. The constant power source that you mostly connected to is meant for the memory wire on your stereo which will allows it to save your setting when you turn the vehicle off and your stereo kicks off. Otherwise you will end up setting the clock and adjusting your EQ every time you turn it on.

Radio and cd player do not work on my 95 bronco...should i replace it or try something to test it?

i would test it even if you go with an aftermarket radio you will have to have all your power and grounds.to test it simply pull the radio out to get the the wires. The red wire is a 12 volt ignition when the key is turned on it sends 12 volts to turn the radio on,the yellow wire is 12 volt constant it should always have power on it.,and finally the black wire is your ground the easy way to test the ground is to simply take a test light and hook it onto the positive post of your battery prob the wire and make sure it lights up.To check for power just do the opposite hook the lead on the light to the ground post on the battery.you may have to have a wire ( a jumper wire) to use to hook in between the battery and the test lead on your light.

Iam having fan problems i have change the relay put new water pump and the fan is new also any other things it can be

First off keep in mind that your fan is controlled by temp sending unit which sends a GROUND signal to the fan relay, which opens the curcuit to turn on the fan . Your fan has a CONSTANT 12volt supply going to it which is supplied buy a fuse .
With that being said, check with a volt meter to see if you have power (12 volts) at the fan plug . Ground the negative lead of your volt meter to the batter

Im installing an aftermarket stereo in my 2002 Grand Am.. I bought an expensive harness and its not working.. I have the radio working, but the ignition wire from the radio is hooked up to battery...

This vehicle does not have a switched power suppy in the factory harness. The orange wire in the car harness is a constant 12 volts.
To resolve connect the 12 volt power supply from the head unit to a switched circut at the fuse block and this will resolve your problem.
