Where is the inline air conditioner filter located

The air conditioner on my work car gets cool but not cold , I added oil charge and freon but it dont get as cool now as it did before . The farther I drive the better it works. I'm thinking the problem is the filter in the line is dirty . Where is it located on a 92 lesabre with a 3.8 ?

What you are referencing is probably the orifice tube + a screen.
There are many things that can change the air temperature inside the car.
1. Inside AC/HEATER duct under the dash, the temperature door can be open a bit and let the warm air mix with cold air temperature.
2.The purpose of the orifice tube, that is between the high pressure and low-pressure tube you can feel with your hands the cold and warm tube
The screen is blocking particles of metal from A/C compressor if the compressor is defect.

high-pressure side is HOT
low-pressure side is COLD
3. A/C compressor clutch could slip more than it should. The air gap has too much clearance.
The location of the orifice tube is :

New Orifice Tube EX 5151C 302272679 S10 Trailblazer Blazer DeVille eBay
To show you an example withdrawing and principle of A/C system and where to look for your question.

Hope it helps.

SOURCE: Car full of freon, air conditioner still not cooling

Yes the system can be full of freon and yet not work, the pressure switch could faulty, the expansion valve too could be faulty, he drier receiver too.
On switching 'on' the AC , is the AC compressor workingor rather does it engage?
The AC compressor clutch too could be not functioning.
I guess you have to go step by step to check first if the AC compressor does rotate on switching 'on' the AC.

SOURCE: 2001 buick lesabre-ac problems

  • Assumed your AC unit is OK, but uneven temperature distribution. Try to throw the heater on an off severtime. A sticky valve on the heater would cause similar problem.
  • Observe the RPM while parking your car. While the AC cut in cut out (or turn on an off). If it cause no load on the engine. The freon may be low or the compressor is bad. In this case only the intake side of the evaporator is cooler than the other side.

SOURCE: air conditioner blow warm air after freeon

you could have a leak in the ac system which would be why you had to add freon. take it to a repair shop and ask them to check fo rleaks because adding more freon wont fix your issue if there is a leak.

How do i maintain an air conditioner?

As long as your coolant is where it should be as in radiator coolant and your a/c belts aren't cracked or looking worn your ok, but there's more. Is the air nice and cold or just cool? Cold is perfect - cool is needing a small amount of gas/freon added on the charging port/inlet plug...that looks like a tire air plug. too much and it will be overcharged and cause problems so add small shots and check the air for coldness. Know that its normal over time for freon to get weak as in a tiny bit leaked out or not where it should be. Also check the compressor for any signs of leaks or oil etc and see how the clutch engages when the a/c is turned on. have someone do that while your looking at it. No strange sounds other than that of it grabbing/engaging. Its basically a simple unit if all is working as should. Any belt squeaking might be a worn or loose belt but only if its NOT a serpentine wrap around type. ok thats all i can think of for now. good luck

2008 legacy air conditioner was blowing cool air but not cold I added one can 134a on low pressure side with motor running ac on high cold now it only blows hot air

I highly recommend that you get it checked by a professional. You may have a restriction in your system, or the system is way overcharged. In either of these cases, the possibility of high pressure causing lines or hoses to burst and possible severe damage to your vehicle, like a destroyed compressor, is very likely.

Also, check the can that you added freon from. Many of the small cans of freon sold at the local parts retailers have several ounces of "oil charge" in them. Many times, when these cans are used to fill the system, the system ends up saturated with too much oil, which can also cause dangerously high head pressures, which can result in severe damage to your vehicle. In these cases, the system must be evacuated and flushed out to reduce the amount of oil in the system before it will cool properly.

2004 Toyota Sienna XLE...overheat problem....replaced water pump, thermostat and flushed fluids and added new. Now the temp gage while driving moves up from half on the indicator to 3/4 and the air...

-Are you talking about air conditioning...?
-The fan works but not cold air at all ? that is what you asked?
-If so. then the Freon is very low or no more. Check for leak and fix before refill Freon.

Good luck

Air conditioner stopped blowing cool air. Added freon. Worked well for a few days. Now only blows cool air on passenger side.

Chances are you have a pretty fast freon leak, and the passenger side will be blowing warm within a few days. I have the same thing happen on a couple of my GM cars, except my leak is very slow; warm driver's side, cold passenger side.

You can try and top off the freon again, but I suspect you're going to have to take it to a shop to find the leak and get it fixed. Plan on spending some big dollars for the repair.

Good Luck.

My air conditioner works but does not cool . i have added freon the last two years and fixed the problem ,did the same thing this year but did not help .

When self adding freon after it leaks out you get air trapped in the system. After adding freon a couple of times the air expands not leaving room for the needed freon. To continue adding freon with air tapped will knock the compressor out pretty quickly, there's not enough room for both & the air is keeping the freon from being able to cool properly give the false indication of being low on freon. The freon you are adding has the dye added to assist in finding the leak since freon does not evaporate nor dissipate it its being leaked out. A black light will assist locating the leak. The best thing is to have the unit checked & serviced by a mechanic...he'll charge about $ 150.00 to check for leaks, remove the old freon...his machine will tell him how much air its trapped in the system by how little freon is removed. For the service fee he will replace valves & gaskets, where needed, correcting most leaks. After sucking the system down & recharging the problem should be corrected.

The front air conditioner on my 2003 dodge grand caravan has a small leak that the dealship says is under the dash. Can I just put a charge on the front unit the back unit blows cold air. Is this...

There is only one system, so your conclusion doesn't make sense. If the front evaporator is leaking, the whole system will lose charge, and the back will not be cooling. Your problem may actually be the front blend door. Recommend you get a second opinon. Evaporator replacement is much more than $300.

1997 Mercury villager, Air conditioner was working, now compressor kicks on and off, shows over charge in the red, why? Nobody added any freon.

high pressure is usually from heat not being removed from freon in the condensor. Usually it's because the cooling fan is not sucking air through the condensor. Check your cooling fan relays (3) in the battery box in front of the battery. Also, check to see if cooling fan has failed.
Does it work ok when the engine is cold and then quit after engine warm up? That would be a clue. When pressure gets too high, there is a high pressure cut-off switch.

Other posibility is a restrcition in the system. not common though.
